Yes Bollywood is nothing but another Industry in which 100s of thousands people are depending their livelyhood .Though Bollywood is a glamourous Industry but lot of sorrow inside are also available due to unorganised and irregular systems prevailing in the Industry .Our media ,newspapers are so much obssese with covering glamour and related persons to glamour that they simply forget the unsung heroes of a film /theater as a result all those heroes live in a very uncertain life resulting in mush more poverty ,hunger actually what we donot perceive .Media simply forget that covering those unsung heroes will bring them more coverages in terms of selling their newspaper, channels to more no of people instead to few no of people who subscribe to such glamour .And in turn the so called glamour people in the Industry due to their uncertainty want more and more coverages to remain in focus .The time has come now for the film Industry to remain in organised way to maintain a steady growth of the Industry otherwise day will come soon people will simply forget this Industry leave aside the glamour for which interest to this glamourous Industry to masses are already started wanning due to new new inventions in electronic gadgets .

State tops corruption graph

By Subhash Chandra NS, DH News Service, Bangalore:

Karnataka has earned the dubious distinction of being the most corrupt state in the country, leaving behind other states including Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

This has been confirmed in a 2007-08 survey, conducted by Transparency International India and the Centre for Media Studies, New Delhi. the state which was ranked 17th in a 2005 Transparency International India (TII) survey, has now climbed to the top slot of “very highly corrupt states.” The survey is part of efforts by TI to reduce corruption by promoting and supporting transparent and ethical practices in government. During its all-India survey, the organisations randomly selected 22,728 BPL households across the country. BPL families in several major cities in the state including Bangalore, Bidar, Raichur and Chitradurga were surveyed.

On the corruption chart, the police department tops, followed by others including, forest department, land records/registration and housing in the country.

The other corrupt services are electricity, water supply, education, banking and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

The survey reveals that Rs 883 crore was paid as bribe in 2007 by BPL families to avail of 11 public services, including getting certificates, bank loans or filing complaints at police stations.

Bribing is also for getting basic services like n

I'd recommend a combination of neechay-taang-beechmein-sar-aasana and a course of strptoccophilaxitypix - 3 times a day, before waking up, after sleeping and while urinating. What do you think, it's not serious? is it? Does it need hospitalization? My nursing home is open 24x8. Address: Sadashiv Peth, Kothrud, Pune.

AYURVEDA THE FRAUD
by congo on Aug 29, 2008 07:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

THIS 29 YEARS AUTHOR HAS WRITTEN THIS ARTICLE FOR PUBLICITY.

Ayurveda is nothing but a quackry being packed in a layer of nationalism.

If Ayurveda was so great, there wouldnt have been plague, cholera, small pox epidemics in our country. Whole cities were wiped out for centuries.

This Ayurveda is more in news because most of the Indians want to become a 'doctor' cheaply. And that is possible with Ayurveda. No need of drug trials, no needs of clinical surveys, no need of any Fedral authority for Drug approval. So .........easy to be Vaid and start writing articles.

The Vaat, Pitt, Cough - this principle itself is flawed. most of the Vaid are prescribing Allopathic medicine, which is an illegal action itself.

Congo,

You need not take any Ayurvedic medicine. Stick to Allopathy and all the side-effects. Do not pay any attention to thousands of people who have bee cured via Ayurveda. You and I know, they are all wrong. We are right. A few of my relations are off allopathy medicine for blood pressure after taking Baba Ramdev's Ayurvedic medicines [Patanjali Yog Peet]. Of course, these people are fools. You and I are clever. We know they have not been cured. Only the BP meter is wrong. How can enjoy such good healthy life. They are wrong, of course. You are right.

He has a point. Ayurveda like any Science needs research, that is ZERO right now and hence it'e effectiveness in treating new or for that matter mutated diseases cannot be guranteed. I am sure if WEST takes on Ayurveda they might make it a best medicinal system in the world but for its not as efficient as alopathy.

Can I use the RTI in the foll case if no action is taken by the concerned officials
by lalchandadupani on Aug 29, 2008 11:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Last Sunday a powerful explosion killed two people making the bomb. Piyush Mishra (25) & Bhupinder Singh (32) are among the dead, both Bajrang Dal (Right Wing fundamentalist group supporting BJP) members.
The explosion destroyed the door & walls of the room.
Police found eleven live bombs, and enough material to make additional 9-10 bombs, several timer devices, batteries, Ammonium nitrate and potassium nitrate.
If Indian Intelligence / CBI etc. is truely sincere towards Indian Constitution & towards the nation, they should now arrest the parents, brothers, close friends, House owner etc. and interrogate them thoroughly for their links with Right Wing Fundamentalists and their political masters and also foreign links should be checked. Their phone calls of last two month should be analysed, just as they have been doing with persons from Muslim community. Law should be equal for all. I hope IB, Home Ministry, CBI, UP Intelligence & Mayawati are hearing this.
I am sure they will stumble upon big treasure of information, especially of the past many explosions in the country.

If investigations are not carried on these lines, then questions are likely to be raised on the integrity of the National Judiciary, Policing system & CBI.

All National / UP's secular politicians have got a chance to expose the BJP & their allies. Thank god, many innocent lives have been saved by the explosion. Almighty God (whoever & wherever he may be) has indeed been grateful this time.

Redesign the BLOG pages
by Truth Prevails on Aug 24, 2008 06:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Rediff team,

It is high time you have to look into redesigning the blog pages and make more blogging friendly and reader's freindly.

Here are some points to start....

1. Display replies in 3 columns instead of scrolling down. It is boring to scroll down.
It will save space effeciently.

2.Reduce the size of Reply button to save space.

3.Cut the gap space between each of the comments.

We are able to read only 10 blogs (and its replies) at a time.

Please do something and make it interesting for us.

Yours faithful blogger

English is Useful but Recognise Regional Languages Too
by Kris iyer on Aug 24, 2008 03:15 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am for the English language as a practical tool of communication. It is an international language now. It may have been imposed upon us but we find it useful now as a "Link Language" amongst us and between us and the rest of the world.
Science, law, economics and other disciplines are best studied in English.
However, our media celebrates only writers in English. The psyche of our media is still a bit colonial.
Only one novel, celebrated for a few months in the USA, is enough to make that author "great" in India. He or She can then go on to lecture the rest of us on issues on which he or she is not knowledgeable at all. If he or she sneezes the media will report it!!
Whereas talented writers in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam - the English language media undervalues. Our media is "colonial" still.

Our "elite" are even more "colonial" in their mind-set. They will deny Indians the truths in their history.

My dear friend , i went through your message and i found that you are in need of a pshyciatrist.More than six decade of millitary rule in pakistan, mynamar, and even bangladesah has only helped in plundering the state of affair in those countries.Democracy is the best form of governance , the problem is not with the politicians but with us that we choose them .Taking china and its splendous policy as exception , there hasn't been a single country across the whole globe which got benefitted by autocracy and tyranny.

Drivel passed off as 'popular'
by sibby mathews on Aug 23, 2008 09:33 PM  Permalink

Movies generally reflect the tastes and the level of intellect of their audiences. By this measure, often it is only the Malayali and Bengali audiences in India that pass muster in terms of appreciation of cinematic skills, level of understanding of the visual art, understanding what is 'good cinema', appreciation of good humour (though cinema of low quality do get made in these two languages also)......

The substantial lag in these matters that the remaining language groups suffer from are demonstrably reflected in the extent of drivel that is made, hyped and bandied about as 'popular cinema'. 'Bollywood', 'Kollywood', 'Hyderawood' and so on are conspicuous examples........
