My take: Give India another 20 Years. Many ills will be taken care of. It is a very good time for US to partner with India. India will not, ever be like China, a country to fear. It will be a very strong country, and will remain friendly and open. It should not surprise you that the highest rated engineering school in the world is IIT and the highest rated Management school is IIM. Both tougher to get into than MIT and Wharton. Medical schools like AIIMS and CMC Vellore are not household names yet in US but they are names to watch. India has a lot going for it in the realm of higher education. Give it time and not too much either, India will surprise you and very fast.
You do not eradicate terrorism by creating awareness in one hand and then promoting madrassa education in the other. In W Bengal, the so called atheistic communists now rely on madrassas to supplement the school system. W Bengal is practically sold out to jihadists. India does not have perception of terrorism as it always tends to isolate Islam from the equation because it is scared. You do not eliminate terror this way.

Dr Kalam is Great Person but surely GUTLESS Person All the above are "good to hear" statements. so what are the ACTIONs to the Govt he Proposed. was he able say - NO to reservations and YES to pure merit in JOBs and Education.??? - NO to Hajj subsidy money and invest the TAX payer's money in rural upliftment ?? - NO to Inaction of GOI and YES to fire Prithvis and Agnis into Pak terror hideouts ?? - NO to Jihadis and STOP hate speeches in mosques ??? - NO to crores of illegal B'deshis pouring and adding to India's poverty ..
--more of him was definitely expected ... he prefers "silent and play safe approach" ...

honourable scientist Dr Kalam , you are really a role model for me, and for others. somehow you teach us us respect our duty towards our country , to our people. i just want to say that in this independence day that we must be live with love and happiness to others. and face the situation as a whole. its the duty of every citizen to take care of your motherland, then only we can see HEAVEN in all parts of our country.
With the brains he has,he could not dominated his post. He behaved like a technical person and not like a diplomat. He WAS easily ruled by sonia and had he been powerful like terrorist muslims he would have changed India
The problem is he is too much inspired by Hinduism and this has made him weak ,he should concentrate more on ISlam which will teach him to be tough like terrorists

These are other words by Kalam that we need only two party system; Congress and BJP will supply meat and egg for whole Indians, and flow milk in the streets of India.
It is unfortunate that we have not heard from EX president Dr Kalam anything on the urgency of the need of transparent policy and practice in the present system.

You have never done anything good in your life but to blame. Kalam the great is not GOD and just human being and don't expect everyting from one person. If India gets 100 people like him, we can do a lot. Encourage good things and people.

India has too many GODs, we don't need any more. Those in POWER have a moral duty towards actions to should SAVE citizens, Dr Kalam is simply BLAMING system he was a part of for India's poverty (220 million as per rediff).
I pay my taxes to the Nation which are being diverted to - Hajj subsidies instead of improving society. - Reservations to minorities who enjoy being " backward for ever" - Roits/destruction by minorities ..
wastage of public TAX money by GOI and Dr Kalam was a part of GOI.
