Status quo may be good for you and therefore it may help you not to react. But it is not necessarily good for the underprivileged also.

I appreciate your pledges. Will muslims and other castes also pledge in the same manner as yourself. Let it not be one sided. It is like pestering the wife to keep getting dowry even after thirty years of marriage.

Excuse me boss,

Sania was among top 35 in world tennis ranking, Leander was nowhere to that mark in his tennis career.

So you tell me, who is the best..

Its not just hype man, she deserves more than what publicity she has now. And that too in a country like india, its very rare to see women achieving such feat...so try to appreciate..

Many woman in India achieved much more than Sania Mirza. Mallesawri won an Olympic medal. P T Usha was 4th. The best Sania has achieved in World ranking was 30. Today she is past 100 and unlikely to get better. She does not seem to be interested in Tennis any longer. Sheis seen morein the fashion circle now-s-days. Leander Paes has been in the top 10 in the doubles for several years and he also won a medal in Olympics. So no comparison. Sania was over-hyphed from the begining because she had good tits and thighs and not becauseof her tennis. Did any other woman sportsperson with a world ranking of 35 ever get similar publicity and wealth?

Rajiv Rajan - A Great Indian
by Kris iyer on Aug 14, 2008 08:24 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

First, let us express our admiration for Rajiv Rajan. We can learn a positive outlook from him.
1) I bet RR does not waste his time abusing anyone on forums.
Goddess Saraswathy does not confer learning when one is angry or one's mind is full of hatred.
Let us exchange views and comments but NOT insults. What do we achieve by exchanging insults? Nothing much. The discussion comes to a halt, see. People are only thinking of the rudeness shown but have forgotten the topic under discussion.

2) "Testing Life" - U are a "Net Missionary" for, may be, Islam. I have replied to some of your points already. In INDIAN tradition we have every idea, concept, explanation we need to be good human beings. We do not need an Arabian import. Oil from there is enough. I wish to say, further:
a) So-called "idol worship" and objections to it are MISTAKEN.
Human mind works through SYMBOLS (every company has its own 'logo'), names and forms. You cannot avoid it. No religion is an exception.
Idols cannot be confined only to some human figure. Even the shape of a church, mosque and temple, create strong impressions in the mind, same as "idol worship". Christians and Muslims, at times, worship "money", women and their cars much more than they worship GOD.
Whether one is a GODLY person or NOT depends upon the person's MIND, not whether he or she worships an idol.
Hindus, worship the whole of RAM, the whole of Krishna NOT just the idol in front. Watch what goes on in their MINDS.

Lingam is also formless representaion of the divine. It is a symbol for Shaivites who practice Shivadvaita. So instead of worshipping formless Shiva they worship in form of Linga which is closest representative of formlesness.
Also for the same reason one cannot find the temple for Brahma becasue Brahma means emodiment of Universe and it is not acceptable in Hinduism to confine Brahma into an enclosure. On the other hand Vishnu is worshipped in various forms according to incarnations and attributes. Though for basically all are same in Hinduism Supreme is considered as both formless & inform(aakara & niraakara). Salvation is acheived by both ways Bhakti & Jnana.

Rationalist,

I agree with your post. That is also my understanding.

Notice my explanation of "Lingam" has been removed permanently. I presume you got a chance to read it, before its removal !!

I am not sure of the policy rediff.com has on such posts which are merely exlanatory and not intended to "convert" anyone.

Stop Abusing each other
by Guest on Aug 14, 2008 06:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi All,

All those who write on these blogs.

I have been reading the bolgs at times and it is a pity to see people divinding North and South and writing in abusive language. I can't believe the hatred we have among ourselves, the funniest part is people get totally distracted from the actual discussion and become abusive either to a person, region (north or south) etc. Let us be mature and work on resolution. This anger and frustration if directed in a proper way we can all work together and make India a better place. Guys let us take responsibility to resolve and not add fuel to fire.

A Pagal Indian

Hello Testing life, i can sense that u r from Islam.

If u think no one been told to worship demigods.

Go to Pompeii(an ancient town in 3000BC-79AD) -ITALY, an excavated site discovered in 1970s which was covered by vulcanic eruption in 79 AD.

They found ROMANS worshipped and built couple of temples for GOD VENUS,JUPITER,MERCURY,SUN,MOON,SATURN.

Go to MEXICO and see the ancient villages (unknown BC to 200ADS)
AZTEC people worshipped Demi gods like RAIN GOD,AIR GOD,WATER,STONE GODS WHICH GIVES FIRE & ALSO FIRE GOD,VENUS,MERCURY. they also had a pictures for EVILs with their foot turned in opposited directions.

So it shows our Indian , Roman,Aztec(Mexican),Egyptian people worshipped gods, demigods with image.

Then comes Chirstianity, recently in 1000 ADS muslim,Buddhishm, jainism etc.,

So we cannot ignore our ANCIENT GENIUS PEOPLE .
Ancient people had a great spirutual and scientific knowledge.

so shut up and sleep idiot.

J & K - rediff too scared to allow comments...
by anir on Aug 14, 2008 12:16 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

So that the media can dictate and keep on feeding the readers with misinformation.

FACTS ARE -

Thousands of acres of lands is used for sewage, cell phones, constructing road called "Mughal" road etc etc in Kashmir.

But just 40 hecters of land was given to
Amarnath trust for the yatriets.

Muslims protested, saying this hinduning the valley (remember there were 400000 hindu families in the valley in 1947 to 400 today).

Azad and company retracted the land allocation immidiately.

Hindus protested, no damage to the muslims.

But muslims started protesting that this is too much torcher for them - its "land" suffocation. [Read their comments].

All this while muslims in India enjoy tremendous benefits in terms of laws and incentives e.g. haj subsidies...

And the India media again portrays hindus as miscreats instead of victims and very successfully!
