Leander has represented and won so many singles matches for the country in Davis Cup and more importantly won individual bronze in Atlanta Olympics. Bhupathi has played only handful of singles matches though won more doubles titles
Whichever may be the logic of opponents of UR Ananthamurthy the fact remains that any person thinks, imagines and then writes and thinking and imagination can have no other language than the set up in which the person is born and brought up taking the example of the great Kalidas whom we Maihtils regard a Maithil and Nagarjuna/Yatri Bidyanath Mishra whose writings might be in any language Hindi/Sanskrit but have a reflection of mother tongue and the area and likewise in modern time if any Indian writes in English his/her character, the imagination cannot be be thought of in other than mother tongue, the Bhase with which Dr. U.R.Ananthmurthy has rightly identified all the native languages and dilects of our great nation and may it be noted that we have the oldest book( the Vedas) if not the language in which we should take pride and furthermore the modern English cannot deny that it has been influenced by the Indian culture even if it maybe thought controversial that English is one of the offshoots of old Coorgi language and when URA defends Indian contribution to the World of Languages he surely as a student and teacher of English literature has somewhere in his experience that a writer writes when his mind and intellect are submerged in the Soul of the national/social mileu he/she belonged to and not only the evolutionary path of Heckle,'Ontogeny repeats phylogeny,' is applicable to human as a body but also to language as an expression of mind which can be none than Bhase.

Have you ever heard of "comma", "fullstop", "colon", semi colon" etc???

As a doctor my notion of coma,is harbinger of a full stop i.e.death; colon is part of gut but definitely I have not read about semi-colon: colonectomy puts a patient on a tube!
Thanks Youngman at least you have spared time to read my long sentence, for ornamentation which knowingly I had written long with maximum characters permissible by Rediffboard, in defence of Dr.URA who is a very senior friend of me (I am incidentally 53 today as per Hindu calendar!). The spell check I did today and though I had two spelling mistake "dialect," and "milieu," the long sentence was not shown fragmented and was OK grammatically though English is fourth tongue for me and naturally my mistakes deserve omission. You may know my views by Google searching my name. dhanakarthakur@rediffmail.com

i have a few wishes to b fulfilled before i die, one was olympic gold, abhinav b did it, god bless him, now its time for an oscar but really is it gonna happen, whether its bolly or kollywood, time to start with movies which can show atleast 5% of real life situations, and common we have 1.2 billion people and each with a story to tell. may be its too optimistic!
There is one question I wanted to ask my south Indian Friends. The fact that you have only bulit a temple of Khushboo and not any other talented actress....Does it show that with so much lack or rather dearth of good looking faces in the South ur criteria of worship and building temples is beauty? An import of Northen concepts ?

Hey Swash buckler, Tamilnadu doesnot have dearth of beauties .Sridevi,Hemamalini are from these state.Kushboo got some fanticial fans like Amitabh got who prayed in temples in North India in thousands when he involved in some accident...Stupidness knows no boundaries when it comes to hero/heroin worshipping.Just think twice when you are raising against your fellow Indians ( I doubt if you are ISI funded Indian or PAki)
He is just a painted fat dancing joker like any other south Indian actor who are ever ready to dance at even the gaudiest of tunes. Just a look at these thul-thul white-painted-black-underneath 'superstars' who have hundred temples depicting them as Gods-Godesses and million devotees makes me nauseatic...
