I feel Sania will be on top charts in sports column as long as rediff helps in her hype. Why dont we start really promoting good players like Hampi etc., No dpubt she is a good player but this should not overshadow other spots and players.

She has achieved much. But I think somewhere she lost her way. She has developed an unusual accent and progressively her game has gone down. We had lots of hope from her. Leander , nodoubt , is a class act and all Indians are proud of his achievments.

Paes was never ranked inside the top-75 in Singles. Sania has been in the top-30 for 2 years. She was the Asian no.1 as well. Please think before u post
I think it is unfair to put PPAES in the same bracket as SANIA. In terms of achievement, PAES is way, way ahead. SANIA, for now is more of a glamour girl, then any substance.

Paes has won one olympic bronze, several grand slams (doubles and mixed doubles) and has given India many Davis cup victories against better opponents. What has Sania done ? Never survived beyond 2 matches in any grand slam. She is gradually becoming Indian version of Ana Kournicova

getting ranked 30 in womens tennis is nothing great one has to be within the top 15. whereas in mens tennis even 35/40 is good. In Women tennis most players are new and are ranked low but they can beat a player ranked 30/40. Sania gats easily beaten by players ranked well below her and the standard of play by sania is nowhere near.

Some rowdies in each city of India under the garb of some "Patriotic / "Nationalist" political party bring India to a halt. Their ulterior motive is to gain power at state / Centre in the forthcoming elections. In pursuit of their sh*it objective, these politicians belonging to a religious fundamentalist group, has today organised All India Bandh resulting in , hoolaganism, curfew like situation in some cities, lawlessness, firing, closures of Hospitals, Banks, Schools, Colleges, Govt. Offices etc., The Congress at the centre seems to be passive watcher unable to take any action against these goondas. Togadia has been calling such bands at his whims & the Govt. seems not concerned at all about the common man's problem & emergencies. The BJP & allies have been playing with the emotive issues for their selfish benefits. Those few who are supporting these people now should not expect much from them in the future. What can you expect from those people who first burn your house with a dream of making a Palace for you later. India is indeed a banana republic. What use are the millions of Army people, Police force, Para-military and the central Govt. and the Supreme Court when these goondas are disrupting trains, uprooting railway tracks, blocking roads, closing public facilities...The list is long. We should pledge to kick out such parties from Indian horizon for ever. I think Mayawati is one strong person who is capable of handling such people. After all, Iron cuts iron.

This is the way all the Indians are discouraged and we are not understanding that winning and loosing is part of the game. One cannot keep on winning and the loser will not be the loser ever. He / She will learn from mistakes and should win and we are not doing what sania is atleast trying atleast dont discourage even if you are not encouraging

You say one cannot keep on winning all the time, good. But at the same time one cannot keep on losing all the time too. It is hightime a talented player like Sania took matters more seriously and show some positive results.

It is disgusting to leave out Mahesh Bhupathi, who has won 10 Grand Slams as compared to Leander's 7.
How can he be ignored?? This is a completely baseless and meaningless advertisement. I agree that Paes requires praise, but Hesh needs to be held in equal esteem and given a similar tribute.
As far as Sania is concerned, she has been a creation of the media and all her sponsors. Many more women athletes are far more accomplished than her

Saina Naiwaal in Badminton who put up a great fight in quater finals yesterday without the hype of sania Mirza. We should not blame Sania for her failures. She is limited in her skills compared to the champions. But at least she tried some times. It is the media we blame for creating a hype about the loser Sania.
Looking at the messages posted in this blog, I have realized one thing. People hate each other on the basis of religion, region and other things. Thats why we Indians become easy prey for other countries. English people proved this and now ISI,Bangladesh and others are about to prove it again. God save this country(people).
