All the fuss to nowhere, by Sanjeev Srivastava, Lucknow
by Sanjeev Srivastava on Aug 12, 2008 09:29 AM  Permalink

The kind of urgency been sponsored by the Bush Administration in securing the deal and putting the feather in Republicans cap was very clear from the begining. The Bush factor however is playing a lion role for India and if possibly the inking happens in Bush regime, he deserves the credit. On the other hand the USA Lawmakers, if they waive off 30 days rule or if NSG waives off their norms and again if Hyde Act & 123 Agreement is waived off for India's sake; then consider the miracle has happened and this is what India is hampering on. Talking about miracles, it is clear from the night dinner diplomacy and trust vote money episode of 22/7/2008 in India; that material factor is the in thing of many gambits or should I say of all gambits. The floutings of all norms and overall deteriorations cannot be neglected and the forray of calamities and deaths and destructions cannot be attributed to Divine miracles in essence. Yes, if the miracle happens on this account, it would be the germination of material brain and floutings. The USA as it is suffering disasters and things are not smooth either in India. Still, let us first Congratulate the first gold of India winer - Abhinav Bindra and proceed with factuals and not with smart manipulation of verbosity. Anything with floutings has its mishaps and such a possibility as Chernobyl happening in India canot be neglected either. And then we would be wondering of the dark clouds of evils. Bhopal Gas Tragedy is still freshly remembered.

India in the eyes of American
by sakshi on Aug 11, 2008 08:05 PM  Permalink

I do not know how Indians are viewed in this 21st century after seeing the developments all around. Comparing with economies and cultures and commenting about the merits and meanings, we all become sick.
India should win this deal and get the advantage of moving forward in the coming years.

We should be proud of achievements without comparing ourselves with others all times.

Ignorant illiterate
by deepak deshpande on Aug 11, 2008 06:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr Shenoy is obviously an ignorant illiterate in the matter of sports particularly, shooting. He does not know anything about Abhinav Bhindra who is a commonwealth champion and was always considered as a medal prospect. Mr Shenoy has indeed insulted Abhinav Bindra with his stupid writing.

What is stupid about what he says? As to ignorance,it seems you beat him hollow, not knowing that Abhinav is also the current world champion and world number 1, not just olympic champion.

Nuclear Deal
by Jalaj Shukla on Aug 11, 2008 06:14 PM  Permalink

I have often been amused and at times disgusted by the attitude of the so called netizens regarding nuclear deal in particular and over-all world view in general. Their America-Bhakti is pathetic. The venom they pour over anybody not following the cult of 'Hail USA' is disturbing.

Offensive comment
by Common Admi on Aug 11, 2008 06:02 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I find some comments by Mr. Shenoy to be offensive. Saying the feat of Abhinav Bindra as miracle is actually undermining the years of effort put in by the young man and the talent he posses. Mr. Shenoy should stick to the topic he is writing about and not make any frevelous comment about anyone else.

we indians do not have a heart to make jokes on ourselves. Mr. Shenoy just made a remark on the lighter side. Remember in over 90 years if you acheive a feat is well like a miracle. and Bindra is a Miracle MAN of INDIA. we should be Proud of him.

Dear Sahayaathrikan and Kunalkumar,
Mr Shenoy's ignorance of Bindra's calibre can not be called spontaneous writing or joke.It is an insult of the talented Abhinav who is a past world and current Commonwealth Champion. Mr Shenoy , a column writer has to have knowledge of the subject on which he is writing. If he is as ignorant as common man of India, then he must stop writing and not expose his stupidity.

Yes,I agree with you. What Abhinav has accomplished is not a miracle. If Mr.Shenoy reads the graph of his career,he should take back his words.I strongly oppose this statement and also such a foolish and careless on part of rediff not to edit such a sentence.Don't take this casually Mr.Shenoy and rediff editors. You yourself are making laughing stock of yours.

Common Admi. What u r doing is called "Baal ki khal nikalana". The writer tried to congratulate Abhinav in his own way, don't try to find fault in it.

Hey rediff news writers, can you make a proper link between the things. The excerpt of this article shows that age of miracles is not over when Abhinav bindra can win gold for india. Are you people writing proper news?

Dear Mr. Shenoy,

How can you write that the winning of the Gold Medal in Olympics by our beloved Abhinav bindra is a miracle? You cannot compare his victory with that of dirty Indian Politics. To the best of my knowledge this lad secured 4th place in the last olympics. Only after strong commitment and strenuous practice, he had achieved this Olympic Gold, which is a dream of every Indian. When the whole of India (each and every public) is praising Bindra, you are comparing this event with our politicians. You have written so many columns to elaborate about the nuke deal. Avoid writing such type of articles in future.

Nuclear deal passage in U.S. congress
by Anand Mujumdar on Aug 11, 2008 05:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is expected that Howard Berman and Ed Markey and some like Gary Ackerman making noises. They will object even giving PC (computer) to India or may give with lot of conditions. It will not fly because many democrat and republican party leaders will weigh in to pass the deal before 2008 and President Bush will sign it in rose garden in the presence of top leaders, prime minister Manmohan Sigh and some local NRI leaders by his side.
So breathe peacefully. The real problem of passing the deal was in India. I will blame BJP for that.

MMS did not want BJP support and never cared for BJP support. He even threw BJP suggestions into dust bin. Then why blame BJP? MMS attitude is responsible for all the problems.

Real problem with the deal is the deal itself and the people who are trying to do it and the way they are going about it.

The attitude of MMS is "I will do what I want who are you ? " he does not care for the people of India neither does he care about anyone else except his own inflated ego.

It is a tragedy that our country has often been thrown into huge conflicts due to the ego of people leading it.

It is shame that MMS acts the way he does, as M K Gandhi once said "Power corrupts"

I will add that when a person does not deserve something and gets it he is corrupted absolutely.
