Well that's his side of the story - the truth is always somewhere in between. Also, if this Dr Madduri really is who he says he is- a well-settled man of standing, then why did he settle for a public defender, when it's his right to get his own defense- was he just being a cheapskate? If so, he's certainly paid dearly for it, for having pleaded guilty, in the eyes of the law, he is guilty! He's now a convicted criminal- hope he understands that!
If it happened to a doctor and a person who lived there for 38 years, then imagine how they can treat a newly arrived person (need not be Indian, any non-white). America keeps telling the world on human rights and freedom and this is what it practices on its subjects.
Also rediff should have kept a different title, it is insensitive and misleading.
Looks like there is no difference in Indian law and order machinery and American law and order machinery. Only thing is they are a bit hi-fi and get that 'good' projection from all those hollywood movies.
Just hope the doctor comes out of the shock and humiliation he had to go through. Lets hope that Indian Americans do not go through such bad incidents.
You lucky Doc.A day in American jails must have been much better than spending a day in Indian jails. What is more you are offered $100 vocher to fly in that airline again.Yet another chance to spend a day in those luxerious jails.

Roger binny's mother works as an anus cleanliness consultant, while his wife works as a urethral kidney stone removal expert. both of them use a completely natural process, no powered equipement, only a deep suction system powered by their lungs and mouths. they work only on caucasians. its pro bono work; they don't even take money. they say it gives them deep satisfaction, especially when they are on the job together. roger binny is deeply proud of his home team. way to to go Rog !!! :)
