Modi's credentials for being next P.M.
by Reformer on Aug 07, 2008 07:40 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Bhopal: The Coalition Against Genocide, (CAG), added one more US Congressman to its growing list of supporters for a visa ban on the genocide tainted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

In a letter to United States' Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Congressman Joe Sestak, a democrat from Pennsylvania, outlined the complicity of Modi’s administration in the religious persecution of minorities:

“Numerous inquiries by Indian officials and non-governmental organizations have determined that the state government in Gujarat, led by the Chief Minister Modi, provided leadership and material support for the rape and murder of women and young children, and the destruction of homes, business and resources primarily belonging to Indian Muslims”.
The letter went on to detail the broad spectrum of human rights abuses ongoing in Gujarat: “Mr. Modi ordered a census, ruled illegal by the Gujarat High Court, of the Christian community – the same action he took prior to the orchestrated attacks on Muslims in 2002.”

And “Under his leadership, the state of Gujarat passed an anti-conversion law in strong violation of the Indian Constitution and international human rights norms to which India is a party,” the letter said.

continue...
Congressman Sestak urged Secretary Rice: “I am deeply concerned that a visit to the United States by Chief Minister Modi is in violation of the International Religious Freedom Act and will provide tacit approval of his reprehensible statements, policies and actions that violate the core of the human rights upon which our nation is founded, I respectfully request your leadership in publicly condemning his actions and policies by once again denying Chief Minister Narendra Modi the right to enter this country.”

In another snub highlighting Modi’s isolation on the stage of international politics, the Gujarat Chief Minister’s name has been dropped from the list of invitees at the World Economic Forum, (WEF), being held in Tianjin, China this September. Modi’s Principal Secretary had earlier confirmed to newspapers that the Chief Minister had received an invite from WEF.

Amidst reports of a lobbying effort by his supporters to get his visa reinstated, Modi has been invited to attend a conference in New York on August 29-31st 2008.

Since the reports of Modi’s invitation surfaced in the press, CAG has launched a campaign to have the State Department publicly reaffirm its past decision of not granting a visa to Modi. Following the CAG campaign, Congresswoman Betty McCollum (D-MN) as well as the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, (USCIRF), weighed in with the State Department on continuing the entry ban on Modi.

I really wish Modi becomes the PM & US has an egg on their face for denying him the visa. They cant deny him a visa once he's head of state.

Because they wish to survice
by sakshi on Aug 07, 2008 02:33 PM  Permalink

All tricks of trade will be exercised by UPA whether the nation likes it or not for simple reason that it wishes to survive. Vote for money and leaving friends for power etc.. what not? Until people agitate for food or shelter or security, they do not see.

Remember three monkeys: not to speak, not to listen and not to see. Disagreement means opposing, cooperating means sharing their value system and following them means surrendering to them.

Good monsoon, balanced health and free from terrorist acts.. we have to pray now. Dependable and trustworthy .

Why are there no news Item regarding lifting and re-imposing ban on SIMI and the statements of pseudo secular anti-nationals like Mulayam, Laloo and Shakeel Ahmed? What is rediff afraid of? This is in very poor spirit of journalism.
I would like to urge all the forum members to write a feedback message to rediff in this matter.

Vishal we need to think of a strategy to counter this. Firstly stop seeing those channels owned by the Arnav, Pranav, rajdeep - the SIMI supporters and instead see only Sahara Mumbai which is truly nationalist. Secondly do not read Newspapers which belong to those political parties opposed to Hinduism. Thirdly write to newspapers (editorial - letters) regularly. Fourthly do no vote for these muslim appeasing political parties. This course of action shall definitely bring the Traitors to their knees.

USA, UPA both don't want the house to b in session
by Ram Sharma on Aug 07, 2008 10:44 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

USA, UPA both don't want the house to b in session now.

USA does not want to take risk of doing business with minority govt (though they hv told many times that they don't bother about it. It wanted MMS to sign the deal even if he is in minority.)

UPA has just proved majority by dubious means of bribing MPs on unprecedented scale, bettering the record of previous Congress govt of bribing Sibu Soren's party (the same party is again one of the benefitiary, but now Sibu is no longer a simple person to deposit huge cash amount in bank), by many times. Hence they will not like to face Parliament as long as possible.
