India needs to be tough...
by Umang on Aug 07, 2008 02:12 PM  Permalink

First of all, India should not accept any conditions to be attached by NSG. period. The govt. should make it clear that it will walk away from the deal if a clear/clean exemption is not granted.

Secondly, the govt. should be willing to do that i.e. walk away from the deal if conditions are imposed.

Thirdly, India should not take kindly to these small lilliputian nations raising "concerns" and "objections" at the NSG. India should retaliate diplomatically/through trade in a subtle but firm manner. There should be economic consequencies for countries which oppose India's progress.

Kimball dude is getting way too much press. Not sure he deserves it.

USA(UNIDENTIFIED SPECIES ALL), USA(UNLIMITED SH..I..TS ALL), USA(UNITED SC..OUN..DR..ELS ALL) is the biggest terrorist and much more threat to rest of the world than any other terror organisation. It was US who are responsible for supporting Taleban & al qaeda to fight Russia. They bombed Japan with Atom bombs but didnt feel sorry for thier act which killed 1 lac 40 k civilians.US army killed lot of koreans in Korea war. They killed lot of people in Vietnam. They are responsible for death of over 2 lacs Iraqis. Thousands of Afghanis who were innocent have died because of US presence in Afghanistan. They want to control the whole world thru fear and threats. The same will be done to India now the nuclear deal has taken place. They want to dominate no matter wot. Even it means they have to kill millions. They have a id..i..ot as thier president called "BUSH" bas..t..a.rd child of Hitler.

stop giving this guy press
by nickel biswas on Aug 07, 2008 09:41 AM  Permalink

Look this guy is a total clown.
Just 2 weeks ago he was gloating how the commies have killed the deal.
2 years ago he was saying that the deal would never be approved by the US congress, a few days before the congress approved it by a 4:1 margin.

Why give this moron any press?

Cat is out of the bag

The author is absolutely right. India's travails now begin, Deal or no Deal. Once the chips are down (having submitted the Safeguards Agreement for acceptance by IAEA, redering it into a binding contract on India) no future Indian Govt cannot wriggle out of it under any excuse. Once the pants are dropped a strong man can hump.

The current nuclear deal is an attempt by Manmohan Singh and his cohorts to turn India into a subservient ally of the United States. In the United States however the talk is of a future in which instead of a G-8, a G-2 (i.e. US and China) rules the world (latest issue of the Foreign Affairs Journal). No chance of course that China would agree to this.

As US power recedes globally, we will be left high and dry with all the other erstwhile US allies such as Pakistan and Israel. Subservience has its price after all.
