NUCLEAR DEAL
by kannan on Sep 06, 2008 12:48 PM  Permalink

DON'T GO AHEAD FOR THE DEAL. IF IT IS ONLY FOR CIVILIAN ENERGY PURPOSE, SEARCH FOR ALTERNATIVES. INSTEAD OF DEPENDING ON SOME COUNTRIES FOR NUCLEAR MATERIALS,THE COUNTRY WILL BECOME SELF-RELIANCE WITH OTHER NATURAL
RESOURCES, PROVIDED THERE SHOULD BE A SINCERE
EFFORT FROM OUR POLITICIANS AND SCIENTISTS.

Walk away!
by deride mender on Aug 30, 2008 03:06 AM  Permalink

This is a good cop / bad cop game, by US
& Europeans aimed at de-nuking India. If
they succeed India will be a Georgia of
sorts, against China, begging for NATO
cover. That may be what west wants , India
to buy protection. It will be stupid to sign
away nukes or ability to mantain them in
future.

Not getting the Indo-US Nuclear Deal Through is NOT All Bad News
by Kris iyer on Aug 20, 2008 09:08 PM  Permalink

Some of us have been saying
1. that this Deal is COMPLICATED. It wd be useless for India should relations with the USA suffer a "down-turn". In other words, this Deal will work ONLY if the USA is happy with India.
2. that India needs to be patient and calculative w.r.t. a) the global warming scenario forcing the NSG countries to start supplying Uranium to India b) the "Thorium" option. Nothing like "self-reliance' in this area.
3) that the price paid in cash and sovereignty terms for this Deal may be a bit too high for India.
4) that even without this Deal Indo-US relations would continue to get better.

If this Deal is NO DEAL it may be best for India.

How will the uranium imports be taxed...?
by Albert Pintoo on Aug 14, 2008 10:42 AM  Permalink

All nuclear imports should be taxed at least on par with crude oil. US companies will set up nuc power plants in india and will lobby for tax cuts as if they are running charity here.

WAKE UP INDIA... JOIN YOUR BROTHERS TO SAVE YOUR HERITAGE

DECLARE A ALL INDIA BANDH IN SOLIDARITY OF OUR HINDU BROTHERS IN JAMMU. ONE FOR ALL ALL FOR ONE.

Why is the rest of the country quiet? All Hindus through out India must join the struggle and show solidarity by declaring an ALL INDIA bandh. Support our brothers in Jammu and Kashmir. Read my post above-choices.

SINCE WHEN DO INDIANS/HINDUS NEED PERMISSION TO.....
use their land as they see fit? Its our country and we can build any shrine, temple, mandir, gurudwara, etc anywhere from Kailash Pravat to Sri Lanka.

The Buddha statues blasted by the nuts taliban should be rebuilt piece by piece. This strife MUST continue and no compromise should be made. Otherwise every mosque should be destroyed one by one.

FREEDOM OF CHOICE FOR MUSLIMS IN KASHMIR/INDIA

Muslims in Kashmir/iNDIA should be given three choices:
1. If you do not pledge loyalty to India in heart and action-you will be provided a one way ticket to any muslim country that will accept you.
2. Convert back to the religion of your ancestors-Hinduism or Buddhism or Sikhism or Jainism.
3. If the above two are NOT acceptable you will be arrested and put to work in building the Indian roads and infrastructure.

POTA and TADA must be put into execution IMMEDIATELY.

clear waiver at the NSG is a fantasy
by pjothilingam on Aug 07, 2008 03:02 PM  Permalink

Time and again our independent experts have cautioned that the preamble of the safeguards agreement is not binding, but only the relevant section on termination of safeguards. Now that is proved right, what more spin our govt, supported experts are going to weave?

US will hav e to Accept it
by max pack on Aug 07, 2008 02:52 PM  Permalink

I believe the US will have to agree with the promises it made to India. India has done its part, now its US' turn to show some guts. And of course they would never want to be seen as Promise breakers, when they are already struggling with their repo. around the world.
Certainly come what may India must not agree to any conditions.
