India and N-deal
by Gopal on Aug 05, 2008 09:11 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It starts with the black day declaration surrendering India's freedom and sovereignty
US passed the Hyde act. India kept quit.
N-deal is to get Uranium which last for 60 years from now
Flow of energy starts after a decade. By then Uranium cartels will start dictate price.
India will be forced to buy at the dictated price to avoid waste of huge investment made
Negotiations for n-projects were done during the year long visit (90 times) of the big boss.
The projects are scheduled to be taken up on BOT basis.
The conditions for the BOT is secretive and disastrous to India.
Government proceeded without political consensus.
LEFT moved out from UPA.
MMS moved confidence vote. Horse trading in public.
Soon the 123 agreement will be passed by US Senate.
Nuclear waste from all over will be dumped in Indian soil under the shroud of BOT.
As the cost control is with MNCs inflation will rise to unimaginable levels.
Devaluation links to inflation.
The whole social fabric will be damaged by that time.
The government is unaware of the decommissioning cost. $3Billions a year for 10 years.
They are not serious about nuclear hazards and terrorism.
R&D sector will be slowed down due to fund crunch and HR problems.
Slow down in development of technology for Thorium and alternative source.
Medias will be bought by the MNCs to play their tunes.
India in danger
Time to wake up, Indians!!

Friends,
I am not against nuclear energy. But we must analyze both sides. What was done here? A few (2-5) men handled the deal. Are we not a democratic republic? Don't we have an elected parliament, responsible media, visionary intelligentsia? All papers were handled within the shroud of confidentiality. A deal which has far reaching influence should be debated in open forums. Even MMS had declared several times that a decision will be taken after a consensus. What is the expediency in moving in a clandestine manner? After all we get additional 10% of the present installed capacity of power after a decade. Just for the sake of this 10% we signed off our freedom and sovereignty without following the democratic principles for the sake of Uranium. As time pass on we can not afford to buy that. Then comes the decommissioning cost which is astronomically high at the present level. After 20-30 years imagine the cost. Then what about radiation hazards and terrorism? God alone can save us from that. Why should we make India a junk yard of Nuclear Waste? Time will tell more about hidden agenda!!!
We have Thorium deposit for 300 years. The know how will be available in five years. Why not wait for 5-10 years to generate nuclear energy from OUR Thorium with OUR know-how?

Why Hyde and Seek Policy
by Jo Ho on Aug 05, 2008 09:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Come on Slaves, the best you can do is signing the NPT. Go and start slavery with a new style - you got the slave mentality in your blood. Once you have stepped in to the trap, your bosses in Washington are now going to take upper hand and you are just pawns. Go and sign NPT, what else can you do except vote buying - bunch of jokers?

You seem certainly on of the jokers by making your foolish statements. You consider accepting technology from US as slavery but blindfolded to
see how much it will hurt India without energy !!

Who is DR. Charles, anyway???? In your puny mind you fail to understand Hindu philosophy. When you are really interested let us know and we can explain why Hindus see God everywhere even in Islam and muslims (until of course they start to bully and kill or convert!). It is at the very basis of creation. Islam has little attraction for the evolved intellectual man. Moreover, how can you as a man understand the ways of God such as his decision to incarnate considering your opinion of Man and his poor place relative to God?? Why should he for that matter even send down a prophet such as yours if he can understand creation and do soemthing about it from his high heaven???

I dont think you will even undesrtand your own constadictions!

IAEA pact
by hari seldon on Aug 05, 2008 07:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We wont get a clean agreement ... this deal is being pushed by the US for its commercial interest and supported by the NSG since this is a back-door into NPT for India. Ofcourse lets not forget that all R&D on thorium as a source of nuclear fuel will die (India has thorium a plenty)!!!!!

yes, but india does not have brains to come up with the technology to use it. accept the fact.

if we r being technologically humiliated by US and rest, we deserve it.

after all, rn't we more concerned with price of onions and potatoes, than govt grant for research institutes ??

You are complete idiot to suggest that India's thorium reactor research will be impacted. Google for "Agreeing to permanent IAEA safeguards is on the basis of permanent fuel supplies: Kakodkar" and read the article in the Hindu newspaper. You'll know what the "father of India's thorium powered plants" has to say on the topic.
