It is good news that the gangsters were arrested to prevent more damage. But it is a matter of concern to all right thinking persons that these hooligans will be enjoying all top facilities while in custody which too will not last long thanks to the loop holes in our Penal Code and the lenience of the Courts in awarding bail at random. We hear of many serious cases committed by accused persons while a number of cases are being tried against them. The only remedy is that the Honble Courts should stop granting bail to offenders charged with serious crimes; all the same the Courts should stipulate time-frame to the Police to complete the formalities and try the cases without delay. In such event, the guilty would be punished early and sent to jail which will prevent commission of more crimes by the criminals while still under one case. The case of Akbar Ali the king-pin in the busted bomb-blast case in chennai is a case in point. While 8 cases are pending against him, he has trained people to plant bombs. If he had been done away with or jailed after the first case, the matter would not have come to this pass. An efficient Police force and a stringent Judiciary is the need of the hour to put a firm end to terrorism.
