In Mumbai by paying around 200 to 300 rupees people get the entertainment required which reduces the apetite of a man there by reducing the crime against women. Dance bar girl also will be happy with that money as she can feed her dependants
I really never able to understand the mental ability of the people who post so useless posts at rediff discussion board, I mean why people sway from such serious topic like Poverty, Rape, Inflation and other imp things to not so important things like: Hindu-Muslim Tug of War, mudslinging on each others religions and most importantly East,West,North,South division of India and proving illogically that their region is better then the one.... Come on guys! Rape is a serious issue, why don't you come up with brilliant ideas to help poor girls/women in rape capital instead of starting North-South Indian and Hindu-Muslim hate posts????
there should be two kinds of punishment. One 10yrs for raping and 10 for ruining her life.So total yrs of jail would be 20 but if rapist kills the gal then he should be hanged after 20 yrs spending behind bars

i think you should be put in prison for 20 years...for beleiving and propgating that her life is ruined.....this is the attitude that traumatizes a rape victim more than the rape itself...
rape is just another crime . maybe somewhat more heinous than assault....if only us hypocritical indians would not attach such attitudes to it....it would be a lot easier to get over for the victim...
Chakde Shiela Dikshit, Congress Shining and Raising. Delhi, a state tried to slap UP and Biharis. Delhi, a state tried to slap who does not have ID proof. Delhi, a state of daily Rape. Delhi, a state of daily killing. Delhi, a state of goons of blue line operators, who kill a lot of people daily. Delhi, a state of private electricity operators, who ransack through electricity bills.

mr. sahdevan dumb........we r here not to discuss abt delhi but to discuss abt the crime......if u nothing to say on the crime then pls leave the discussion
"We have arrested the alleged rapists in over 90 per cent of the cases. In majority of the cases, persons well known to the victims were behind the crime," a senior police official said."
Rapes , majority of them are done by relatives or people close to the victim...
Rape infact has very little relation with what dresses women wear, and what movies are shown. It has a direct relation though with the rate of conviction, the level of education and general respect towards women(if they are considered humans unlike in countries like india) ..
I think its now that rapes are reported more often because of general awareness about the issue and media bringing focus to it..other wise the scenario has always been the same....
and all thse muslim adovicating sharia, go take a hike....the rape cases in muslim countries like saudi, iran and pakistan are prbably far greater..the only thing is they are reported a lot less..in muslim countries a woman is often subject to conviction herself if she reports a rape...in india itself the muslim board has the galls to pass a ridiculous fatwa on a woman to marry her father in law who raped her...
I think we really need to change our attitude towards women and look at them as things to be owned, give neccary awarness about the issue to both men and women, as well as make conviction rates higher.

Hmmm... All messages justifying male oriented society in one or the other way. Why don't men in the society introspect. It is after all the low moral values of men resulting in these hineous crimes. Why to blame one or the other religious setup? All the religious setup has been male oriented. Why don't the man control his instincts rather than blaming woman for provoking them. Can anyone assure me that if all the women on the earth start covering them selves completely, incidence like Rape won't take place at all. No... no one can... the reason being immorality of man... The god, which ever faith anyone is following, has graced man with the responsibility of protecting woman by giving him more physical strength. But probably god just forgot to put in more moral values in to the man.....

yes siddharth thats it.if burkha is churning in your stomach, use shawl, blanket, chaddar. now dont start panicking that muslims have closed mindset and other bhakwas. think practical and decide. jaldi nahi hai.

Yes if you propogate to wear bikini or Indian choli and ghagra then she is more prone to be raped then those who are covered. Dude its a human instinct.

i think u failed to read above that most rapes are commited by relatives and people known to the victim..obviouslly what theyr wear or not , then becomes of little consequence.
In west a woman can go wearing shorts and no one will give her a second look. In india there will be men leering at her and salivating all over the place...
obviously then its something wrong with the male mindset here .......and little to do with what women wear...

why u always wanted woman to wear burqa, in islam first parda statement is for man then woman,( this u can clearify any islamic teacher) first improve our self, but problem is the man running society is just talking about woman parda
the actual figures are much-much more than these ones quoted above...but because everybody seems to be somewhere related to political leaders/police etc... the case is never filed in north india....
...have you been to a disc in north india....if you OLNY happen to see a girl from far...and some1 who likes her (she doesnt even know bout him) sees you...you're taken for a big ride.......
its only mumbaikars who are "one of those many true metropolitan" cultured people...

Hi sahadevan. How r u? Long time no see?
Perhaps now one understands why we dont want Northern Politicians to wave their flag here in Mumbai!
Coz along with them will come dirty politics and a super hand of corruption. We all know how Congress rules! This is a classic example!
In Delhi it seems Police are mere mockery of society and people especially men(Husbands, Fathers, Brothers)seem to have taken aback when it comes to demanding safety for their Wives, Sisters, Daughters and even Mothers.
I think its high time RAPE convict should be hanged!
I plead all women in India to demand for such a rule!

rape isnt such a big crime that u shld demand death penalty for it...by giving rape more imprtance than it deserves you tarumatize the vicitms more..
i think its people like u who shld be hanged...
btw if u have death penalty for rape,
1.the rate of convictaion which is low already will go down even further.
2. the rapist will be tempted to kill the vicitm to get rid of the the only piece of evidence.
3. death penalty has never been shown to be an effctive detriment to crime.

eloaborating on point 1...the judge will be more reluctant to convict a person for rape when he knows the penalty is irreversible.
