Most of these leaders are paying only Lip Service. Our society as a whole has to undergo gender sensitization. Look at the way many communities treat their women, wives, daughters, daughter in law, etc. Many affluent communities are also equally bad. The girl child is dicri,inated against right from birth to childhood, teenage and post marriage. They are looked upon as objects & posession. All this bullshit about Ghar Ki Laaj, Izzat, Paraya Dhan, etc. We worship a godess as Devi and then happily go and burn a woman for dowry or kill the female child in the womb itself. Progress! Humbug. Till the day we accept this hypocracy and right at each individual family level imbibe and teach values and respect for females, such crime will keep happening.

If all 4 months are taken as of 31 day(maximum days) then the total is 124 day. At 330 rapes, which work out at average of 2.66 rapes a day. Now that is a big figure. What is the government doing and what is Police doing about all this. Who is paying the Police or the officials In charge to turn a blind eye towards this crime. Do we ever hear that the offenders have been caught and justice have been done. NO all we read is statistics and no conclusion. We don't hear about the offenders at all not even there names let alone pictures. just victims face and name spread across the front page of news papers and bill boards. Who is at fault here. The top marks go to Police, Then the Government who make the law but do not ask questions wghy it is not working. It is a big SHAME a slap on the face of government and Police females as young as 10 and as old as 60 are being raped and the law is not doing any thing about it, but just laughing in the face of the victim.

Please note that most of these cases are false and will be proved false in the due course of time. These are ONLY REPORTED FIGURES and NOT NECESSARILY CORRECT NUMBER OF RAPES. Please do go through the court orders in which most of the times it is observed that :
1. Most of the cases are registered by the complianant or agency in order to settle personal scores.
2. Second most reason is : when a girl / women gets caught in a relationship - she with the help of her family implicate her boyfriends / other man.
3. In most of the cases both boy and girl are involved willingly but when they fall out of love or agreement or whatever - the girl/women use Rape Law as weapon - much like the dowry law in India.

May be you are right but we are not talking about false acquisitions or what ever. That is the job of the courts and the both the accused and the victim to prove them self innocent. If a rape is reported and we go by your thoughts then all actual rapes will also be ignored. We cant just go and say look girl you are just making it up because of XYZ reasons. Shalini Lohumi (your name sounds of a female), try making a false statement and then get ignored or get raped and make a statement and be ignored see how you feel. The rule of the law is that if a complain is filed it has to be folowed adnd brought to court where if the accused is innocent then he will be awarded justice according ly and accuser punished for wrong doings. But if it is the other way around then th accused get punished. Public is no one to judge any one or dish ot punishment.

Yes the unreported don't count for the resons you mentioned and many more. Let Sonia Gandhi's daughter (God forbid)get raped or few ministers or Police chiefs daughters get raped and soon the law will be tightened and enforced vigorously. Police will loose her sleep and the crime will be virtually wiped off over night. Until then the normal citizens will have to suffer the consequences. I am very sorry to say that but that is how Indian penal system works. It does not stir into action until the victims are the lawmakers and law enforcers families them self. If it was working then all this EVE teasing,bottom pinching and all other harassments to the females would have stopped long ago. THE LAW IN INDIA IS AN ASS.

Of the reported cases, most are actually false. A girl whenever alleges that she was molested, immediately the case is registered. Actual picture comes out in the court where more often than not it is proved that the girls/women was involved with her own will and later converted it to a criminal case.

Shalini Lohumi are you a lawyer or a judge that you know most cases are false. Or are you a male who favor free sex even if you have to rape some one. If you are a female then i would say try getting gang raped you will soon get the idea first hand.
I am of the thought that legalising prostitution and making it easy access for people might be the right thing to do, apart for making stricter laws and implementing them more strictly. Wat does the people on forum think of that??

Even if the prostitution is legalized it will not work. Indians look for every thing For FREE, Prostitutes will ask for money. No money no entertainment. The only answer is Rape and this will carry on. Men got to be more responsible (mind you not all man are are rapists ) but all women are potential victims. Prison for long term with chemical castration is the answer. No Libido no rape.Rapist will have to live without sex for rest of his life no family nothing now that is a life time imprisonment on the outside of jail.

What an idea! Understand an issue before you open your mouth and put foot into it . Are you suggesting that every rapist is doing so because he could not find a LEGAL Prostitute? A damn Cop who picks up a salary cheque for being a law enforcer rapes a kid and we waste our time talikg about legalizing prositution and charging servcie tax on pimps !

dressings is not the problem,It is the uncontrollable desire of men who just think five minutes pleaser is a great fun. Without giving second thought to the victim. A girl dressed in Mini skirt does not have a label pasted on her(RAPE ME), but it pasted in the brains of men, RAPE HER. A girl chatting happily with a stranger for few seconds (even if she is asking directions) will be classed as asking for sex. Or the men will boast to friends if asked who was she what did she want,the answer will be MY NEW GIRLFRIEND, OR SHE IS AFTER ME FOR SEX BUT I DON'T WANT IT.ETC, opening the gate way for the friends. They don't say she was just asking directions. And if the person did say she was asking directions then the answer would be you should have given her the directions to my house or flat.etc. we would have looked after her. That is the mentality of the (not all) but irresponsible males. These misbehaving males have to be taught a lesson in behaving like good citizens. The only punishment should be imprisonment and permanent castration.

And also good public, the one takes the law seriously and respectfully,the one do not go around offering bribes to the official. The onuses are both ways and not only with the government. Bribe payers and takers should also be charged for diverting the course of justice regardless of who they are.
