Militancy in the north east is too complicated a matter for even the best brains to understand, hence such goof ups like mistaking the origin of a militant group can be understood.
What is more surprising is that even the educated elite of our country is absolutely clueless as to where is the Northeast region, how many states & capitals. For many, nothing exist beyond Kolkata!!!!
The level of Ignorance about the North east states is stupendous, probably one of the reasons why people of this region feel alieniated & provides the chance for these militant groups to flourish.

Militancy in the NE region is no so complicated to understand Mr. Goswami. The Assamese people want independence from India and support the terrorists. The support for the militants is both overt & covert. Hence we see and hear so called 'human rights' activists who protest when terrorists are killed.
The Assamese people wanted the Bengalis out of Assam and targetted the linguistic minority community over the last 60 years. Some members of the Bengali community were brutally killed, but the killers got away scot free. Killing of a prominent scientist of Oil India Limited is one such example. Killing of Hindi-speaking people still continue in Assam and we do not see any protest from the Assamese, who provide covert support to such activities.
The Assamese people should think like Indians first and then crib about 'alienation'.

I fully agree with mr. goswami that most of our countrymen are ignorant about the North east. They still believe that North east is the land of jungles with no access to modern amenities. Probably, one reason for that is that the respective state govts. of the NE states have not been able to potray North east in the manner it should have been. The Assamese people are simple and patriots to the core of their heart. Perhaps Mr. Sam has not heard of the great freedom fighters from Assam like Kanaklata, Maniram Dewan, Piyali Phukan, Nabin Ch. Bordoloi, Gopinath Bordoloi etc to name a few. To state that the Assamese people wanted independence from India, is to belittle the contribution made by our great freedom fighters and only reflects the level of ignorance of people like Mr. Sam about the North east. Further the Assam agitation launched by AASU and AAGSP was not against the bengali comminity but against the illegal bangladeshi immigrants, who incidentally happen to be bengalis, who have threatened to change the demographic pattern of the North east. Being a bengali myself, settled in Assam, I can vouch for this. So my sincere request to people like Mr. Sam is that please refrain from spreading this kind of disinformation campaign, if you don't know the basics of North east.

Hi Sam. Thanks for response. Not exactly correct, it's the militants that are putting this demand. Hence don't generalise as the entire assamese people demands independence.
Things are not so simple as you pen down them to be. You probably is not aware of how many "Assamese" people has fallen to the bullets of the militants or the huge protests & outcry against the militant activities by the so called "Assamese" people. The reason behind such views of most people is that all the violence is reported as "BREAKING NEWS" in all channels/media but reports of protests are not interesting enough to be publicised.
Lastly pl do not confuse bangladeshis & linguistic minority community. How would you feel if yr home is invaded in hordes??

Have to agree with you mate. I remember the film of Shah Rukh, I dont remember the name but it was about the Assam problem. There the terrorist leader's speech was the same what you were saying. Though I have to agree with their views they should understand onething and that is violence begets violence.Violence can never be an answer for anything.

Thanks brother. Agree with you too. In no way can violence be justified & no sane person in the north east is supporting violence either. Hence, you may be aware of all the peace talks being carried out with the Naga militant & various other groups & the efforts to start dialouge with the ULFA also.
What i am saying may be similar with the dialouges of the character portrayed in the shah rukh's film (Thanks Bollywood for the same), but ask anyone in your viccinity & you shall know the level of ignorance about this region.

Maybe not only in my vicinity(down South) but even in the North. I think its the politicians who create such a scene that people take up to violence. Politicians for the sake of votes instigate different people by so many different activities.

RSS has done so many good things for the suffering community- without looking at them whether they are Hindus or Muslims The RSS is neither fascist nor communal. In fact, it is the communists who are closer to fascism. Regarding Kannur, the less said the better. Unable to tolerate the growing strength of RSS, the CPM resorted to murder politics since 1969. More than 60 swayamsevaks have been killed in this district so far.
As for protecting secularism and preventing communal hatred, Basu would do well to remember that the RSS believes in sarva dharma samabhava (respect for all religions). There is no threat to secularism and democracy from RSS. On the contrary, it is the atheistic communists who are a threat to democracy and secularism. Religious freedom and secularism are anathema to communists. Anyway, the communists are now totally isolated. They have been reduced to just two states in the entire nation

RSS is an organization run by old, narrow-minded, impotent (marriageless) men who have no idea about harmony and peaceful co-existence. Their only job is to spread canards and rumours and create panic. They are experts at this. Ask Laloo Prasad Yadav - he can give hours of lecture on this.

RSS is more dangerous than terrorists in the country. Remember Supereme Court Bench judgement on ordering reinvestigation on Post Godhra violence in Modi's Gujarat.
Don't talk a bullshit abt Gujrat...because only loosers keep repeating this stuffs...Gujratis give a damm on this judgements....which lack the basic understandings of the situation..and BTW do u have any idea that communists party declared a state of war against union of India in 1947....do u have any idea that in 2001 calls of Osama as a commander of Indian muslims against the Indians were made in front of 25000 crowd....do u have any idea what Al Hadees is?

agree mr. goswami, if only our netaalog who only think of voted votes, pay heed to the illegal govt sopported influx from bangaldesh into assam etc, the assamese problem just wud go away! no one likes muslim pests from accross the border to invade ur homes, that too under the benign gaze of our loony comraeds of bengal! stop influx of bagladeshi muslims and the problem wil solve by itself.
