It was Jansangh which started the Angreji Hatao Movement!Languages ignoring other Natioanal languages ! The constitution of India came into existence on January 26, 1950. Enshrined in the constitution was the status of Hindi and English to be the "Official Languages" of the Central Government of India till 1965 (for a period of 15 years), after which Hindi was expected to take up the pre-eminent position as the sole "National and Official Language" of India irrespective of the state or central government. Hindi and English were the "Official Languages" in every department controlled by the Central Government, which is why Hindi and English are prominent in Railways (except the State of Tamil Nadu[12]), Nationalised Banks etc which come under the Central Government.
As January 26, 1965 neared, waves of non-Hindi speakers, started voicing their apprehensions openly, notably Tamils contribution is significant. Between 1948 and 1961, on an average, every year close to 24% of Central Government Officials were selected from the state of Madras (present day Tamil Nadu). The next best was Uttar Pradesh with about 16%. The idea of making Hindi the sole National language was blasphemous to the students as it was combined with the complete removal of English - even as a medium of education was detrimental to their future.[13] "From Google as all records are! It was the Jansangh in 1960 started the aggressive Movement for the Impostion of Hindi as Natioanal Language!They also demanded that Hindi be center -state communication language UPSC Examinations such as IAS /IFS/all other Exams be conducted in Hindi also!This was opposed by south No body denies that Hindi is our National Language as also klannaddi ,Tamil and even English!The agiagtion was strted by Jansangh in North states and was concieved by South imposing Hindi Hegemony over their Languages! The arguement raised by the Pro-Hindi that it is the largset speaking language of India and should replace English!The centre was imposing Hindi Sh. Shastri was thge PM then!But Sh. CN Anna Durai opposed it !See his arguement"[edit] Annadurai's Speech in Indian Parliament In an address in 1962, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C N Annadurai made the following statements opposing Hindi imposition: "It is claimed that Hindi should be common language because it is spoken by the majority. Why should we then claim the tiger as our national animal instead of the rat which is so much more numerous? Or the peacock as our national bird when the crow is ubiquitous?" "Since every school in India teaches English, why can't it be our link language? Why do Tamils have to study English for communication with the world and Hindi for communications within India? All the regional languages in India around 1200 Is no good for long run .Mr UR Antamurthys kids itself would be studying in English mediums.I dont want to start debate which regional language is better than other .We should all concentrate on simple beautiful powerful English and should allow the reginal languages to die a graceful death that anyway in coming 30 to 50 years it will happen other wise .Thanks to Internet. The power of English is backed by the Inventions and discoveries made by English dialect people.No is no point is talking Kannada or Marati ot Tamil ..All are in the same boat with about to sink. So my dear yungistan guys Follow Mtv culture first dump regional languages .Watch Hollywood movies and world movies .They are 100 times better than Indian movies ..There by slowly You will attain the goal The Beauty of English just with 26 Alphabet It rules the world.Lets get united By English .India Is at least now a self proclaimed super power only because some people knew English 15 years back .India has progress abhed of China in software also because of English .Guys don%u2019t listen to these craps Old farts. Great! You are assuming the earth will be livable in the next 30 - 50 years. Forget Simple beutiful English, water shortage is lurking behind your neck, food shortage will follow, already fuel shortage has started($118 per barrel). My dear friend, there will be only regional languages will be alive, because you and me who are speaking simple beutiful will perish, where as those who don't know English will survive on simple basic living.

Even England has many lnguages!And ENGLISH IS NOT THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE OF ENGLAND! UK legislation does not recognise any language as being official,[71] but English is the only language used in England for general official business. The other national languages of the UK (Welsh, Irish, Scots and Scottish Gaelic) are confined to their respective nations, except Welsh to some degree.
