Look after the Jawans! And keep your Military young and fit!Make Military service Compusory as in America! And speedy trial for the Corrupt Officers !
by mahabodhi on Apr 28, 2008 12:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

We have one of the largest military !All countries in the World have in their cadre youngest personnel1But in India the average of the Military is highest! We need young energetic and patriotic army !As in America the Military service be made Compoulsory! As we do follow the west system or the Indians do prefer to adopt US system Concription be mandatory! The Jawans do need more attention !And all should remmber the famous Qoute of Jhon F Kennedy"
And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

John F. Kennedy

We should also look in to the physique of the aemy personnel !Mostly Obese! But priority if any is to look after the Jawans who have service span of 10-15 years only!Officers have adopted the Colonial attitude and luxries as was stated by Kuldeep Nayyar in his book Between Thr Lines -on the experinces of India -China War 1962!He was special Secreatory to PM !What we want is good deal for Jawans who have service span of 10 to 15 years only! Jai Jawan Jai Hind !

sir have a futuristic vision..democracy with multiple parties is always a failure and so are didctators...
Army should take over control,
modify the constitutuion only for two parties... say like Indian nation - 1 and -2,
should allow only fair candidadtes to join these parties,
Arrange fair elections and hand over control to newly elected government...

plus dissolve state governments...and appoint a separate body in central for every state who can take care and monitor progress for these states....this will save multiple elections/time/money/confusion in different states... and all states can have a costant growth/progress

other thought....asking vote on the name of religion/caste/creed or giving such provokative remarks in public should be a crime and any politicien if found guilty should be banned lifelong.....along with lifelong imprisonment

The politicians are least bothered of what we people think about them or ordinary / qualified think in such a manner. They are 100% sure that, we people won't them and only minorities will be voting. Hence what we people say or think, can never be implemented in our Country. The Country will move as the politicians want, banking on minorities votes.

military has become weak
by Vikas on Apr 28, 2008 12:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

if military people are behind money and luxuries, they will not be able to fight a real war.
In war, their main aim will be to escape from danger rather than fight the enemy.

@Mr.murthy please ask Govt. To make Military Service Compusory as in America! If any american does not join military serivcs as stipulated by constituion he is sent to jail!Even Mohhamad ali the great Boxer was sent to jail as he refused to go virtnam war ! I request again to you mr. murthy make Military service compulsory! Why only few have to serve Military!I assur there are billions who want to ready and join the Military and even will not ask for pay rise! And they will fight tiull death and kill the enemy !Those who think that they are in Military doing favours to Indians then they are not required to serve in the Army! Those who want to serve the Mother land joined the Army!Your words that you are doing favours to indians is highly objectionable !Let Military service be made Compulsory then threer will be no probelm of any controversy of monetary considerations! It is luck and favour by the Mother land that those in Army has been given! If they think as you that you are doing Favours to Indians then please leave the army! And let Military service be made Compulsory as in America!

Those protesting against the dismal pay in the Armed Forces are not claiming that they are doing any favour or not. What they are demanding is an action to correct their dismal pay scales. And what is your problem if they protest for their long deserved demands!!

Mr. Mahabodhi, It seems u never served the armed forces.I belong to that catogary, of officers who joined the army immediately after china war, after passing Engineering degree. At that time we were really driven by patriatism. That does not mean that govt should not pay usadequately. While all army's officers of other countries are enjoing free entitled rations it is not so with Indian Army till 83. To live a officers life we used to give advanced cheques to the unit bania canteen at adiscount and run the family life.In war any casuality takes place the Govt Used to pay 6 months pay and then half pay for another 6 months to the berieved family and say a comfortable good bye. What for we served then if it is not forthe patriatism.Anyone who found taking bribes in Army is Court-marshalled,sent home.Leave alone Civilion officers, how many clerks were dismissed. They get suspended and come back again to serve. In Armed forces even one Chief of Naval Staff was sent home because he had a show down with the defence Secretary. The secretary was shifted to another Ministry.Leave fighting a war you canot sustain regorous traing an officer under goes.An officers training is much more tougher than a jawan. An officer alway leads his troops inthe war.In civil the only ting that keeps officer and his staff together is Corruption and the share he gets. The officer casualities in war are more in indian Army compared to any other Aarmies of world.so watch u r words before u comment

Best time for India to get rid of all poticians

Appreciate Mushraf
He sided Taliban ,milked US $ [30Billions]from uncle sam and made a fool of USA and still continuing with Taliban and Al Khaida--leave what he did to India--we know but look at from his political angle-Mr.Vikas Understand GeoPoltics--Our Politicians do not know spelling of GeoPolitics
and leave every thing to Babus and we are writing to each other on our Defense force's Plight to get adecent salary
Mush is still in gaddi with Pak army at his command even after elections!!
You may say it is bad -But he did it for his nation unlike Karat and CPM who are openly siding with China shamelessly
Which you think better Autocrat with great feeling for country[Ex-Juan Peron of Argentina] or Politician who supports external Power against his own countrymen/works against His Motherland's interest!!
Decide yourself
Better to get rid of such Politicians Ruthlessly
Bad -what is needed has to be done-India has greta HallMark-Not doing what is reqd in the interset of Nation-As we are ruled by ball-less babus and Karats'

yes exactly .The IAS lobby has done more harm than good for this country. They have given themselves more power and less resposibility. With the help of the other 3 pillars of Democracy (Judiciary, Media & Parliament) and Acts like RTI, Lokayukta etc we should bring an end to the behind-the-scenes control by the IAS.

PM Please Listen
by Subodh on Apr 28, 2008 10:57 AM  Permalink

Dear PM,
What more justification is required for you to consider the reasons for this grave state in which our Armed Forces are? The General has spelt out the heart of every serviceman.

As you are aware the Armed Forces themselves cannot convey their feeling to you directly, or go on strike. It is only Ex servicemen like us who can vouch their concerns.

Rationality in 6th PCR
by murali pillai on Apr 28, 2008 10:49 AM  Permalink

I certainanly empathise with the chief as far as the lowest rung of the forces are concerned(i.e. from a jawan to officer of the rank of Major). The aforementioned group is exposed to the danger zone in any army action, hence need special consideration.
As regards Officers of the rank of Lt.Col and above they have easy accessabilities to the vast resources of the army whether in peace or in field and hence during their service tenure 98% or more of these officers amass wealth which can suffice the next generation also. Therefore the locus-standi of the chief for parity of these officers(Lt.Col and above) with civilians which is the text of his outpourings cannot be accepted at face value.
