-- It is a perception thing. US wants India to fight its proxy war with China. India should exploit it and extract a good deal from both. Also India should remember than if it becmoes a pawn, it would be treated like one. China knows that US is trying to pit India against China and appears to soften its stand. The world needs to be more afraid of unipolar world with US doing as it pleases than Pakistan or China.
There is no proof that China ever gave any nukes to Pakistan. All such misinformation comes from the western media. US would like India to be a pawn in their game to contain China. India has no reason to fall into this trap.
India cannot offer a serious challenge to China at this time.
1. India does not have military allies. Russia is a spent force. It is more closely allied with China than India.
2. US is not a close ally to India, because India continues to maintain its so-called INDEPENDENT POLICY and is not a complete ally with the US, and the western european countries IDEALOGICALLY.
3. India does not have the technological and economic might to deal with China strongly, though China may not be able to completely defeat India in a war. It can win a few battles at best, India can give it a bloody nose and continue to bleed the Chinese might. Both will be losers in a war with each other.
INDIA SHOULD BE FOCUSSING ON IMPROVING ITS ECONOMIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL MIGHT AT A VERY FAST PACE. THE CURRENT PACE IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. WE NEED MUCH MORE CONSENSUS BETWEEN BJP AND CONGRESS ON ECONOMIC REFORM TO PUSH THE NATION FORWARD SIDELINING THE ANTI-NATIONAL COMMUNIST PARTIES.
The media and citizen partnership and participation in nation building should improve. Their interaction with politicians and bureaucrats should improve and the Citizen/Media partnership should be driving the national agenda, rather than the politician/bureaucrat combine. We should call the bluff of any politician when we see one.
Without this strong engagement, India will only grow very slowly and be vulnerable to the enemies of this country. IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROJECT ITSELF STRONGLY IN THE WORLD ARENA.

I am not a gr8 admirer of BJP,however i totally agree with mr.shourie about China.Today China is bigger threat to Indian security than pakistan. This is very evident from the forward movements of Chinese army near indian borders in recent times. China has reposition its missile arsenal targeting indian cities, deployed its troops in occupied Akshai Chin and Arunanchal border. This the time to act not to think.Its also time to silence commies in india, who have been acting as chinese spies in india. How can we forget cmmunists march in support of china when China attacked india in 1962. I agree with Shourie.I have been expressing in almost all the related discussion boards that China which is a wild tiger in disguise of a mild goat with long range plans & strategy for dominance in Asian Continent is more dangerous than Pakistan which too cannot be taken lightly with a sense of complacency.The lull in Pakistan activities in Kashmir is deceptive only to manifest & strike with all its wilderness suddenly.India is really surrounded by "failed" countries who have an eye on our progress and feel envious-the known Pakistan & China on one hand and BanglaDesh with its urge to infiltrate as many people as possible into Indian territory,Nepal with a change in it a militancy oriented political ideology sequel to change of guard and Bhutan which has shown its susceptibility for putting our defence interests in jeopardy by allowing China to go for wholesale infrastructure activities of road laying etc in the adjoining border area,on the other hand.UPA govt, of which the CPM whose political ideology would match with China at least theoritically is a partner,is proving too slow in dealing with inconspicuous but imminently threating evil designs of China which is openly supporting Pakistan only to conform to the saying-"your enemy is my friend".It should never be forgotten that goal of both Pakistan and China is same;the only difference being that Pak's intentions and actions are pronounced while those of China are very schematic.India & China could never be "Bhai Bhai"
