One of the Assembly elections in Maharashtra, the ruling Congress party promised free power to farmers as the Sena was contemplating making this promise.
The congress came to power and true to their word implemented the promise.
But although the power was free for farmers it was available only for a limited duration. The farmers merrily replaced their 5HP motors with a 10HP one as the work needs to be done faster. The demand for power increased drastically.
Today even the suburbs of Mumbai like Bhandup, Mulund etc face a 3 hour load shedding every day.
Although the free power scheme may be withdrawn the 10HP motor will never be replaced by a 5HP one. The peak demand has only increased disturbing even those who pay for power.
Beware of such tactics by politicians. Their short term gains will be your long term loss. Don't vote for any party which has only the interest of the party in mind. It is better to vote for independents if options are not available.
In next election, SS-BJP will give same promise. Why they will follow principles when people voting for free power are more than those affected by loadshedding?

BJP is better than congress and communists. You should understand and your comparison or reported observation of SC of BJP with terrorists is highly objectionable.
This mass bribing by all Indian Political parties ( UPA /NDA / DMK / AIDMAK ..... ) is going to ruin the nation. People will never learn to live in a budget.
They will seek free Ration / subsidised Kerosens/ Books/ Medical facilities/ Bus & Train transport / Electricity / Color TV / Mangal Sutra and what not.

BJP could catch power, automatically lose their power. BJP offered wheat for Rs. 5 and Dal for Rs. 10 in Punjab. Liars are everywhere. Jungle thieves are everywhere!!! Vote after lengthy thought... We have to bear long five years.
In Gujrat, Modi said no to free power and ensured recovery of dues from farmers. At the same time he ensured uninterrupted reliable power supplt to everyone including rural people, farmers, industry and students. To take care of initial noncooperation of Sonia led central Govt in setting up large power plants, he set up so many small plants to bridge the power supply deficit. He ensured availability of water in rural Gujrat.He ensured a terrorism free climate and made businessmen free from the fear of extortionists like Sohrabuddin (A Sonia favourite). This has bring prosperity to people of Gujrat and they do not need any frre lunch (Not free tv/rice/loan waiver of Congress nor free power of BJP. Developing world needs visionary statesman like Narendra Modi.

In Gujrat, Modi consumed "7 years budget allocation" in less than one year buying power from the Private Power Co. ( Ambani in particular )
