Indian school in Chile bowls over President Patil
by Nirpinder Singh on Apr 24, 2008 09:17 AM  Permalink

Prez Patil finally seems to have found a location where she is happy! She maybe no Abdul Kalam but she is happy to be the fond granny around children. I disagree that it is out of place for a foreign school to teach children to sing the Indian National Anthem. The school seems to have a mixed population of Indian and Chilean children. They should be made to learn the national anthems of both nations.

President - You have hit a National Nerve
by rakesh dikshit on Apr 23, 2008 03:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is indeed a surprise that a country and land so far away is able to sing the National Anthem of another country.

If it is true, then it is a food for thought for Indians and many schools and alike institutions to hold the national song in pride. What prevents the present day generation in not according the same status as a foreign land and its inhabitants can.

Also let us be men and accept a Female person as a President. She need not be harped abuse as she is our representative and the IT today provides an insight to a country and its psyche through these expressions made in public.

Further, why do we have to compare one President against the other. Why can't we impress upon the presnt incumbment to perform as the earlier one.

Finally, let us not twist the article away from its main theme and prod our thoughts on others

It is not right. The national anthem should be sung only by the citizens of the country. The annual grant is pittance.

Wats so wrong? When We have an Italian maid becoming our super-controlling power, why cant little kiddos out ther in Chile sing National Anthem of India? And morover, I think its an Indian School in there, just like the Indian school in Bahrain or Indian School in Moscow....

You have the right to express your opinion about your president - no matter how tasteless it may be - enjoy it while it lasts - there will be elections next year and the party that has got a good chance of winning does not really like criticism
