RE:some books for Muslims to read
by balaord on Apr 21, 2008 05:42 AM  Permalink
First of all I am from south India livin in US,i know my exact caste three generations ago unlike many muslims here..

One important point - when you quote references understand basic etiquties-You should quote from non religious affiliated sites.
The fact that you guys hate historians like Ramachandra Guha,Thappar is a proof that you can write and refer only your own imagintions in hate websites and refer them back again

William Darlymple is a living historian and a award winning author unlike Naipaul who is a story teller and who got prize for his ability to tell stories.William darlymple has commented about naipaul here

...Yet The Mughal Emperors remains a vital corrective to the influential but partial and wrong-headed readings of the flag bearers of intellectual Islamophobia such as Naipaul, Lewis and Huntingdon, all of whom continue to manufacture entirely negative images of one of the greatest and most varied civilisations in world history...

Its a good documentry movie based on the life of a 11 year old white girl and her interaction with Islam. Its a part of BBCs white season documentries. Its loosely based on real life story about a 11 year old white girl who learns and embraces Islam. And the producers are not muslims :-)

I dont have any shame in my hindu past. For me religion is not about proclaiming greatness over others. For me religion is a way to live a life and thats it. I am as proud of my hindu ancestors as any other hindu. I dont have any shame in calling myself a hindu in the geograhical context.

I was always a hindu in geograhical terms. I follow the message of God (Islam) in spritual terms. I have all the respect for my hindu countrymen. I can never abuse a hindu because I am myself a hindu.

Here is a review of the Historian Huge Kendys book how the spread of islam changed the world.
he is a oxford historian and the review is here in world leading econmist weekly

economist.com/books/displaystory.cfm?story_id=9433846

He says
...AN AGGRESSIVE Bedouin horde, drunk on religion, sweeps out of the Arabian peninsula%u2014on the way burning the great library of Alexandria%u2014and, through wholesale massacre and forced conversion, imposes Islam on a vast area stretching from Spain to the fringes of China. If this is your mental picture of the rise of Islam, dimly remembered from some long-ago history lesson, take note- it is in almost every respect wrong....

This kind of unsubstantiated view is height of madness according to your own vivekanda-what is your view on this?

The supreme quote Judge VR Krishna Iyer quoted Vivekanda in The Hindu Magazine below

Vivekanada told the detractors of the Muslim rule- The Muhammadan conquest of India came as a salvation to the downtrodden to the poor. That is why one-fifth of our people have become Muhammadans. He denied that -it was all the work of sword and fire - and said that to call it so was -the height of madness.

Actually now it has been proven that most Muslims in India are of "high caste origin"..es pecially in Northern India.

But Arif and Balord, you will hardly remember that, it has been really long when ur forefathers were forced into Islam.

Read up the books on bharatvani.org

Sorry Salim, but chances are back then their heads would have been chopped off for speaking against forced conversion. It is quite ridiculous of you to ask for proof about a single person. When people live in fear no one speaks out openly. Unfortunately, that is quite true even today. No muslim politician has the guts to speak openly against Jihad being waged on India or any where.. cause they know their heads will be chopped of by hot headed idiots from LeT or SIMI or some organization like that.

by Salima Mansoori on Apr 21, 2008 05:21 AM  Permalink

The editor needs to be coached and trained on basic English.. He has used so many polysyllables here..

If you try and calculate the Gunning Fog Index; it will be well above 25; which is unacceptable..

Ideal Gunning Fog Index should be between 8 and 12.

You are right.

Historian Will Durant calls Islam's conquest of India "probably the bloodiest story in history.

You Arif are the product of this conquest.
A cild of a convert who suports and professes the very faith that raped and raved your grandmother.

Keep it up, you are a good Muslim

Ever heard of the gypsies.

Indians had the guts to fight Islam and stop its expansion.

You maybe a product of what ur forefathers could not defeat. Its ironic that you profess Islam, the same religion that ur forefathers probably were enslaved into.

Tell me ur region of origin and ur sect and I will tell u how ur forefathers were converted and raped.
