The question makes no sense. Maoists, Communists of all shades and countries are Violent. They use Democracy to undermine it. The only hope for India is for the Army to take over and wipe out the Commies.

Bigger Conspiracy by China
by ALOK CHAUHAN on Apr 18, 2008 10:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Please my Indian brothers. This is a biggest conspiracy being done by Chinese Communists. They somehow killed the Royal family of Nepal and passed the blame on Gyanendra. That's the way these Communists are playing with their neighbours. It's utter disgusting that the present Indian Government is not smart enough to see the truth. China has hijacked Nepal. We really are losers now. Why the hell we didn't make Nepal a part of India. Now the bigger problems are awaiting us. Thanks the congress and UPA.

But as long as Indian Communists are influencing the Indian Government, nothing can be done to counter the Chinese. The Chinese have the Indian Dogs [Communists] to take care of their Interests.

That's why you come out with a strategy to get rid of these Dogs. Don't we have guts and brains to do that.

Nepal
by kskumar on Apr 18, 2008 10:33 PM  Permalink

Just because the Maoists have won this election, it doesn't mean that the King should become a non entity. He still enjoys some support. Remember, Nepalese elections are not fought on proportional representation but on first-past-the-post system, which means a sizeable section of the populace have voted against the Maoists.

This is not to deny that the King committed grave errors. He should have held talks with the political parties and resolved to become the titular head, like in Thailand. By doing enough for the poor, he could have emulated King Bhoomibal Adulatej of Thailand, who is revered for his pro poor policies, though he is only a titular head.

That way, all this mess could have been avoided. However, the victory of Maoists is bad news for India, as they are pro-Pakistan and anti-India and will join the Chinese and Pakistanis to trouble India.

Gyanendra
by Fried Yakov on Apr 18, 2008 10:28 PM  Permalink

Gyanendra is probably the only Nepali monarch to have been crowned and dethroned twice. He and his wayward son have met their fate for wiping off the family of Birendra. Given that a democratic country like India should not support monarchy, India has to play its cards well as China has now got proxy access to the porous UP-Nepal border by getting the Maoists elected in Nepal. I have every doubt whether the Maoists will 'loose' any election in Nepal, as the example in WB and the rest of the world shows, communists do not relinquish power unless forced to do so.

Wecome the King and send commies to Nepal
by ananth K on Apr 18, 2008 10:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This King or Royal family still commands support of Nepalese. Didn't indian voters shifts loyalities. He should be welcomed as he is the representative of at least some section of Nepalese.

Let's not do politics here. When we can have chinese agents and bangladeshis here, why not Nepal's king.

Mother India should forget any resentment and welcome him.

It will be great if we can send the commies or italian women to Nepal as an exchange.
