thiis is very interesting and this is what our country needs. Only thing we need to watch out for is the credibility of the people making these committments. If someone gives details about their backgrounds and work done that would be great. else will end up in the same garbage can.

Only a myopic fool like you will think thatway. It is because of this mindset that Karnataka has suffered in the hands of an Idiot like Deve Gowda. Any person with a sane mind, unless a Gowda should not vote for JD(S)..!

Only 20 seats !!!
by john on Apr 16, 2008 09:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Fileding ohly 20 seats what they achieve ?
Only dividing the votes nothing elese. Even
if they win 1 or 2 seats, they will also sit
on the fence to whom they have to support.
Instead of this, can't they go out and
educate people and bring them to voting
booth ? Let people take money, material etc
from the offering parties but they should
decide not to vote people who offered them
the bribe. If they do not wish to vote,
atleast they should invalid their votes

by rahul g on Apr 16, 2008 09:39 AM  Permalink
ha ha u look very foolish dude..do u know what it takes to contest an election??
each constituency will have around 400 polling booths. So take it as 2 or 3 agents per polling booth. You will need around 1500 people to work for ur party on that day.
That is just for one constituency. Moreover what about the costs of canvassing, banners, hoardings, pamphlets??
im not talking abt bribing its just the basic costs..
and also think how many people are going to vote for them sepearating from congress, bjp , janta dal..
its good they are going with metropolitan areas first where rigging is tough

If this party survives for another generation then for sure they would get very good votes cause nowadays India has been changing a lot. Lot of people getting educated. No more politicians can blindly betray the educated people. The time is going to come. uneducated people are passing away. One revolution will haaped soon. Cause educated people are bored and irritated with these corrupted politicans. Pray for these people...

Misguided

These people are misguided and are diluting the nation-building efforts of the Congress Party. They should work under the leadership of Mdm Sonia Gandhi and Mr Rahul Gandhi.

You are very much right... They should first get to know the 'Secularism' from congress, 'Value' based politics from JDS of Devegowda, 'Meaning of nation development' from BJP, 'Status of backward communities' from BSP of Mayavati and 'business acumen' from communists before getting into these kind of gimmicks...

Great initiative
by Kaushik Basu on Apr 16, 2008 07:53 AM  Permalink

This has been a great initiative. I have a suggestion, for national elections, there should be centralised voter list for any person who is out of town for work, gets to cast his or her votes. This would result in an overall increase in polls.

Intellectuals forming a party
by Meenakshi N on Apr 16, 2008 07:45 AM  Permalink

It is a very good move. Iwill give full support by conributing articles on poverty alleviation and elimination of corruption. A small beginning in course of time will gain momentum and ultimately succeed.
