good work by guj govt

tragedy such as this is hard to bear. it is however, a matter of some comfort that the govt authorities acted swiftly in recovering the bodies and turning them over to the shocked families. road safety has improved considerably in gujarat over the years. quite obviously, more needs to be done. god bless those children.

Accident on the bridge
by Sheetal Kaur on Apr 16, 2008 11:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

"The vehicle broke the railings of the bridge on the canal on the right side and fell into it".
I wonder who decided that railings should be installed where motor traffic passes, How is railing going to stop a vehicle as powerful as a bus was going to stop breaking through it, this time the designer and the road safety inspectors have been proved wrong.
They should rethink redesign the bridge barrier, If they can't then allow us(i will show them how it is done for free).
In mean while the bus company and the traffic control should be prosecuted for not observing the road safety.
Although nothing is going to bring these little angles back, the families should be compensated for the loss of there dearest children.

It's tragic and difficult to guess the condition of the families who have lost their beloved. We share their grief and sorrow. We can only pray for their strenth to sustain the loss.
We should request the authorities to check the safety of bus routes and fortify the railings across the bridges.Let's not talk of politics and religion on such tragic occasions.May god bless the victims and bestow wisdom to us all. Jagdish Barot

Wake up !!!
by Das on Apr 16, 2008 10:47 PM  Permalink

Gujrat GOVT declared that this accident was due to the fault of driver.
RTO and the traffic police please awake up now. Take this corrupt travel agent and the driver of this Public transport in strong hand.
Companies should also take action on these rash driver before they go on rampage on this kind of accident.
You never know whose turn will come next.

Tragedy.
by Chris on Apr 16, 2008 09:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is a terrible terrible heart-rending tragedy.

And at a time like this, there is no need for Rediff to indulge in mischievous reporting such as:
' "This is a humanitarian work for us and we do not think in terms of religion at the time of such mishap," he said. '
There was no need for Rediff to include such a statement at all. Nobody was thinking along those lines, except for Rediff.
