'When a man has begun to be ashamed of his ancestors and his past, the end has come'.

why should i not question my ancestors?? this is twisted logic without any reason. the author is doing double talk, jus to justify his belief

Don't question your ancestors, because we're more civilized and intelligent than our ancestors. So, just relax. its Tea time.

Yes, RRR Chola, you can question your ancestors, first ask your dad and mom to show you proof that you are their child!

pis Ram God??
by RRRChola on Apr 14, 2008 05:05 PM  Permalink

Valmiki proudly says to Ram, 'I am the 10th son of Pracheta, and I never remember speaking even one untrue sentence'. How can such a missionary and follower of truth could have written an imaginary story of Ram?

God knows all and should know about valmik. Ram is not god, he coould have been a good king, ruler etc, but certainly not god.

Deliberate Fraud
by Prasad Manokaran on Apr 14, 2008 05:04 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

THE recent story of NASA discovering a %u201Cmysterious 1.75 million year ancient bridge%u201D is now clearly exposed as a deliberate fraud by Hindu fundamentalists. It was initially propagated by Vaishnava News Network an ISKON web site and was promptly hailed as a scientific proof of Ramayana by Hindutva internet sites. Not much notice would have been taken of such claims, which are after all periodic in the Hindutva sites, if PTI and television channels had not picked up the story. Finally, the fraud was exposed: NASA clarified that its pictures were neither mysterious nor new. These pictures, taken from space borne cameras of the 30 kms long sandbanks, have been around for more than six years and most certainly NASA did not certify them as man-made. NASA has debunked that it had identified the structure as man-made. It is difficult for a space agency from kilometres out in space taking photographs to identify a structure as man-made. As if this absurdity is not enough, the original news report also talked about NASA not only declaring the structure as man-made but also precisely dating this to be 1.75 million years of age. And to cap it all, NASA was even supposed to have declared human habitation in Sri Lanka to date approximately to this time. All of this from outer space! In the eyes of Hindu fundamentalists, NASA scientists must seem really super human: they can do from outer space what their own archaeologists such as B B Lal cannot do on the ground.

Mr Prasad,
With what authority do u state that the stucture was not man made? NASA says that these pictures were around for 6 years. Just FYI, Ramayan has been around for thousands of years. How can a person (Valmiki) living a thousand kilometres away know that there was a structure like this connecting Lanka and India?? Or do u want to say that it is a mere coincidence? If it is, there are a hell of a lot of coincidences. For instance, there is a mountain in Srilanka (a tourist attraction now) in which the vegitation is the same as in the Himalayas. Also, as stated, Ravan's descendants are still present on the island. If you take in all of these facts, you theory that all this is a coincidence looks quite ridiculous and foolish...

Proving the historicity of Ram
by abhinav sarkari on Apr 14, 2008 05:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Max Muller was nothing more than a cultural imperalist. It should be noted that he was not an independent scholar buit was authorized by the imperial English government to translate our epics. It was a western agenda to show the epics in poor light, so as to convince the Indians our civilization was not so old as believed and that the Western civlization was superior.

What is more shameful is the fact that Max is still highly revered in India. It is time that all the Max Muller Bhavans in India are closed.

Terrible mentality - if you don't agree with someone's views, throw them out of the country...You have to beat good old max with your own arguments, not by closing their bhavans. They teach german and are good guys.

Tamil Literature & God
by on Apr 14, 2008 04:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My friends from Northern Part of India, would be happy to know that, the first work in Tamil Grammar(which is undated) was compiled/written by Tholkappian, who was a student of Sage Agastya. The tamil language and Hinduism are inseparable. As per legend Lord Shiva Himself presided over Tamil Sangam. Though Kamba Ramayana was written a 1000 years back, Lord Krishna/Vishnu has been referred by ILango in his great epic Silapathikaram which is dated in late BC. Only a few self professed politicians claim otherwise; God & Tamil Literature are seamlessly linked.
