Mr. Ram kelkar Is suggesting truly the correct & amicable way of going forward. He made a perfect point we are an evolving & moving society & not a static one.So Politicians trying to divide this country by gaining polititcal mileage out of this reservation issue should take a careful look at the Judgement delivered by SC as well as this beautiful piece of article
It is a nice article. Any of our politicians has guts to speak this way?. Instead of healing disparities and discrimination among Indian, these selfish people are creating new forms of discriminations and untouchables of current political era.
Any social and economic justice must provide justice to all. Creating injustice in the process to any particular group will not serve the very purpose of social and economic justice.
Secular was added in 1976 during the Emergency, but Socialist was there in the original. Look at the Directive Principles of the Constitution. It says that the Indian Union should strive for a socialistic pattern of society. It is the original constitution as well. You can not say fathers who drafted our constitution either. Indian constitution was based on 1935 India Government Act, written by the British, then in 1947-51 it was again revised by the British officers. Indians have very little to write on Indian constitution. This is the fact. There is no such thing called founding fathers. All were illegitimate persons put there by the British. India was not USA. So Don't copy words which do not fit for India. Indian constitution was damaged by the "British Agent" Ambedkar, who was against the freedom of India but M.K.Gandhi made another blunder and put as the chairman of the drafting committee. He took advantage of that and made the caste system permanent. Otherwise, Caste will be abolished in 1951.
Great Article. Also makes us reflect on the fact that India was only an Idea and was made a country only by the invaders. Indian History is replete with examples on how Indians want to divide the country and today sadly that mantle is being taken over by the likes of Thackerays and our vote-bank politicians.
M K Gandhi had wanted the congress party to be dismissed after independence. If that had been done then we wouldn't have had this hypocritic, pseudo-secular, dynastic and sycophancy loving nehru familie's vice hold on this nation. Let us all try to fix that wrong in the next and coming elections.Only then can we even hope to take India on the path that our founding fathers wanted it to go.

exactly. i'd like them to be hung with thier legs. and then show them to people for all eternity - do NOT follow these men !
A more perfect and efficient union can be achieved by introdusing Uniform Civil Code, which will bring all the minorities into the main stream of Indian society which will help to create a more powerful India..

Pavanji Who will do it? our leaders are busy with divisive attitude for their vote banks. National issues are secondary. Our system requires drastic reforms.
May be the author overlooked this. The origianl Indain constitution declares India to be a sovereign, democratic republic, assuring its citizens of justice, equality, and liberty; it is Indira Gandhi for her own persoanl political gains added the words "socialist" and "secular" to the definition in 1976 by 42nd constitutional amendment. Same ways the reservations are also asked to be reviewed for 10 years, which where never happened. The fathers who drafted our constitution have a vision for the country which our politicians lack. We amended our constitution more than 50 times in its 55 years of history, where as Japan had amended its constitution 2 times in its 200 years of consistutional history.

Ram Kelkar either has overlooked this aspect of history or else it was just a miss!!! Let him answer...i just don't understand why writers don't care about comments and take pains in replying...Hope he would do so now atleast...
