RISING PRICES - CONSUMERS RESISTENCE IS THE ONLY ANSWER
by jamsheed basha abumohammed on Apr 12, 2008 12:15 PM  Permalink

Common man is tired of rising prises.Govt is helpless as every one in the govt calling it a world phenomenon. What is to be done now. The only plausible answer seems to be consumers resistence.Buy less and eat less. Avoid luxury and resist temptation to buy even though offers are tempting. Avoid gold purchase and encourage joint purchase in wholesale people in the colony pooling resources for such purchases.Postpone all heavy purchases.Cut down atleast 20% of monthly purchases.Govt should encourage sale of all important and essential commodities like oil and pulses, rice, wheat products through cooperatives that will help in holding the price line. Even vegetables can be sold through govt run or cooperatives shops. Such drastic efforts will send strong signal to the market manipulators.Transportation of all essentials may be subsidised. No more increase in petroleum prices for atleast one year. All taxes local or otherwise on essentials may either be scraped or put on hold. Govt should seriously combat the spiralling prices on a day to day basis.Govt utterances blaming inflation to global trends is unfortunate as it speaks of its impotencyto fight it out.FM is responsible for this state ofaffairs. Cgane of FM and Commerce Miniser at the centre would have soothingeffect on the market.Either they must resign ontheir own or they must be sacked. This alone will restore peoples confidence. Will PM has the courage to do this.PM himself can offer resignation as he failed to curb prices.

Politicians are not interested to maintain price rise or law and order situation. They are roaming here and there to collect bribes and make programme for next election result.

Blame game!
by shiva on Apr 12, 2008 06:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The root cause is, the cost of oil has mutiplied over the last couple of years. We are 70% dependent on the Middle East. We are still able to source the supplies at a heavy cost.

What solutions? That is a bit more difficult than blaming all & sundry. There is a movement world-wide on renewable energy. It is now or never, meaning the main friction & wars have been due to oil. US is sitting pretty, at least it thinks that way. Print dollars & pay in your currency & the money comes back as investments in various forms including Treasury Bills - IOUs from Uncle Sam. Their poskets are torn and could be empty!

Do we have a national planning on this vital issue? Or the parties are looking for a winner for the next election? Come to power and blame others for the issues. The fact is many feel oil price will not come down at all! The cost of recovery is going up, cheap sources all exhausted!

There is great potential in solar energy. The cost is double that of oil, but coming down while the oil is going up. Once the graph meets, we can solve the root cause of inflation & pollution.

The industries are gearing up, but affirmative actions from the govt will give the spurt. As the raw material is free and silicon panels are from sand, we should just go hammer & tong!

We are so used to blaming others for our sorry state, but why not take on the issues square on? The common man is ready, but the leaders?

Please look at national interests & co-operate!

Why talk tall like big headed intellectual. Our poletician knowns that public has to vot for x party or y-party. But our tradition, blackmarketing, artificial shortage, looting before election and extend dole to employees, so-called poverty alevition programme etc., discovery of India by Rahul Baba, reservation on the basis of cast etc, will continue. The word "teaming million" as used by Nehru chacha is still true. Please do not try to fool the people by saying global etc. Inflation in India is created by the stupid people. Everyone is suffering now, be he a common man or industrialist.

Knee jerk reactions, and more commie propaganda
by Indian on Apr 11, 2008 11:08 PM  Permalink

So many people write such knee-jerk reactions, using this current inflation crisis to forward their own narrow personal views and warped ambitions. Instead of looking to ways of solving this GLOBAL issue, they get all political and ideological about it. We need solutions, not politics and posturing. And anyone supporting communism or naxalism should know realize that historically these systems of government are known for their high inflation levels (in the cases where there is actually any food left to eat under such defunct systems of government). God I do despise the commie-propagandists!

by Chola The Greatest in the Universe on Apr 11, 2008 09:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Kick this bloody Congress led UPA Commies out of the country. This turbonator created a big show as though he is going to be the saviour of Indian poor people and the 'greatest' finance minster of all time, created big fuss in the media only to make the entire Indian mass taking all the burden while PC and Sonia can have nice First Class flight and manipulate stock markets for their greedy needs.

In India naxal movement will come as a big surprise kill all Congress dynasty leaders.
