PRICE OF FEAR
by edge on Apr 12, 2008 02:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Something funny has happened to the price of food. It no longer reflects reality. The reason is that %u201Cfinancial players have seized control of the food markets%u201D. From the petrol pump to the department store, everything that you bought a year ago would cost you more today.High oil prices will eventually slow down economic growth, if they haven%u2019t already, and I believe they will start pushing inflation higher!

RE:PRICE OF FEAR
by Netra Maithun on Apr 12, 2008 02:53 PM  Permalink
Kind of true... Moreover, the rapid rise of the crude by the OPAC cartel is responsible for some of this owes. four years back the Crude price was USD38/barrel. 5 years back it was USD22/barrel. Today it is hovering around USD110/barrel. Sure economies have tried to rationalise their fossilfuel consumptions.Hence, we did not greatly feel the effect of the price increase. But there is a limit to be more efficient. I think the limit has been reached, hereafter, the higher crude will effect economies world-over. And unfortunately, the Billions from the crude trade is enriching only a few who are flaunting new cars and mansions, leaving most of middle east poor and venurable to religious extremism... This OPAC cartel needs to be broken as till they exist, all non oil producing countries be in their mercy...

As I see it

Inflation / price rise specially for agricultural products logically should be good news. 70% of our population is dependent on Agriculture. And they are poor. Rise in price of Agricultural produce gives them an opportunity to realize better value for their hard work in the fields. Of course , the high price realization needs to reach these farmers. Few days back there was news that Farmers in North India had a bumper production of potatoes and there is no storage space. So potato prices has crashed. Do you think that these farmers will produce potatoes next season? Of course not. They will move into another crop. So be ready to pay higher price for potatoes next season. The present condition is due to mismanagement of our agriculture policies. In one part of the country, produce rot as there are no storage facilities and in another part, you are forced to pay through your nose for the same product. Stupid laws controlling movement across state of food products should be scrapped. Government needs to set up cold storage and allow private sectors to set up cold storage. FCI warehouses needs to be modernize. Theft of food stocks from government godown needs to be monitored. The Communist %u2013 the self certified cry baby of the poor, has powers to usher in these changes. But they will not. It%u2019s their interest to keep the passes poor and improvised to protect their vote bank. Knee- jerk reaction of banning grains exports and cutting import duties on certain imports,

In addition, we had more than ample stocks of Wheat and Rice last year. We exported the same. Now we are forced to import the same at double that price. VERY PROFITABLE BUSINESSMAN WE ARE! and that to MM - Chidambaram Raj .... Someone was sleeping on her job. Thoese head need to roll. Power with out responsibility and accountability is not acceptable. 6th Pay commission recomendations should be freezed till the mechanism of accountability and penalties for non performences are laid down...

Knee- jerk reaction of banning grains exports and cutting import duties on certain imports, would have suited a Governance of a third rate government and not a Cabinet boasting MM Singh and Chidambaram.

Major causes for inflation
by Habeebur Rahman on Apr 12, 2008 12:52 PM  Permalink

Dear readers
Before analysing the rate of inflation in India lets see when real and devastating inflation began,it started from the times of Narsimha Raos period, when Manmohan Singh was appointed finance minister, the policies of libralisation began and continued till todays regime. We as a natin took a uturn from socialist policies and forwarding towards imperialism on the commands of WMF and also to please the imperialistic USA.Let the Govts take u-turn or O-turn it dosnt matter to the poor, but when it results in hunger, farmers sucide and highest inflation in indian history it matters most.
Solely I blame Manmohan Singh and party for this,They wanted to prove that they are more intelligent then Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru whose policies and plans made india self sufficient in food crops and they wee no hunger deaths or inflation or farmers sucides.Really they were golden days but Dr singh has taken the nation to a disaster by his economic reforms. The results of his reforms are much and widely clear now,India has hundreds of rich families earlier and now thousands are millionares but the poor are becoming poorest, having mobiles and internet connections ,TVS is not a yard stick or the nations development but how many times per day a family can eat and give education to the children peacefully,is a yard stick, now due to inlation a poor cant afford to feed his children two times and forget about education its a big business of profit,so where the Poor fits here? Remarkably all mi

Price Rise - to whom we blame
by VVM on Apr 12, 2008 12:19 PM  Permalink

The Finance Minister presented budget 2008-09 which created rumors that elections will be held in this year itself. Now who will fund the election campaigns of political parties? Of course %u2013 Business community. How they will fund the campaigns without money? Simple answer to the problem of price rise is %u2013 Business Community is collecting money to fund the campaigns for next elections. Now to whom we can blame?
