about creamy layer
by ravi ravi on Apr 10, 2008 02:49 PM  Permalink

it is appreciable that the court excluded the creamy layer from obc quota,it will be highly appreciable if the court directs all governments to implement the same in other reserved segments also.then the help of reservation goes to real people who need the help.if this is not done creamy layer become more thik and weaker section become more fragile, and we can not end this reservation system for ever because the basic scenario never changes, may be our leaders also wish the same as need somebody to listen to them.if somebody is busy in his work, well to do,wise, then who will attend our leaders public rallys.long live vote bank policies.

Their relatives, samaj helps to get job. I will quote one example.
BSC Student is getting management trainee job if his influence is there. And BSC dalit student have to start from clerical job.

and where did you get these figures from?

No one community can have more intelligence than others. Brahmins are more likly to be literate (but not necessarily educated - there is a difference). However, that alone doesn't make them intelligent.

If there is one thing people can learn from brahmin's it is this - How even today in India, a supposedly secular and equality minded nation, punishes a class of people for the atrocities committed by their forefathers.

And the other lesson you can learn - In Indian democracy, if you have vote, you will get included in some reservation category.

Thrid lesson - If you belong to an upper class, just make sure you have between 20-50lakh rupees for your childrens education out of this country, as this country won't let you get a good education.

that way forward cast people like reddys, chowdharys are also in good positions.this percentage is more than brahmins percentage.glad to see brahmins achievement, but 80% of the same caste are struggling in villages who needs the attention of rulers,in some areas just leading a miserable life.due to the low number of population they can not influence the leaders, because they are not the deciding voters, these people need constitutional protection.but i can not agree with the 90%statistics,this is a way back 2decades back scenario

Not only that. The brahmins have successfully degraded lower caste people to such an extend all during thousands of years that the burden of brahmin superiority is still not letting the dalits to lift their head. This is what that has to be changed

By pushing the brahmin's head down?

Here is a thought. If someone is deprived of food, the right way to do it is to provide it to him by trying to get more food, not by grabbing the food in another person's plate.

You'll just create a new underclass this way.

If education was privatised and open investment is allowed, perhaps govt. can concentrate all its money on OBCs and othe socially needy persons. But, if there is absolutely not enough seats and 50% of inadequate supply of seats are reserved, it is a way of telling people, that i'll only feed a few people who'd vote for me. Others can go jump to a well.

Not because they are intellegent but because they are cunning and there is systemic bias and conspiracy by the brahmins who sit in DPC, interview board including UPSC to deny promotion and appointment to deserving candidates from under prievileged sections. UPSC interview for CSE is the biggest hoax. The marks obtained in interview often determines the rank of the candidates. It is seen some of the well networked candidates are given exceptionally high marks even though their marks in the written part is vey low. Further there is segreggation of the candidates as per their caste and accordingly the candidates are called for interview category-wise. Half an hour interview can not be an objective basis for judging a candidate. Let interview be held in camera. In fact whole procedure is so opaque. UPSC should bring down the total marks of PT to 100 from 300 immediately.

Historic day, I have been vindicated: Arjun singh
by siva sankar on Apr 10, 2008 02:48 PM  Permalink

Union Human Resources Development Minister Arjun Singh has said the Supreme Court judgment upholding 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) %u201Cvindicates%u201D his position.

"This is very historic judgment. Hundreds of students belonging to OBC category will be benefited by it," said Singh, who introduced the plan to reserve seats for OBCs in Central educational institutes two years ago.

%u201CI feel vindicated. I have been fighting for this when I was the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. People have misunderstood reservation,%u201D said Singh after the court%u2019s decision.

%u201CIt is a historic judgment, particularly on the creamy layer,%u201D he told CNN-IBN. The Centre would ensure that the law providing for 27 per cent quota is implemented from the coming academic session.

"I am sure all people who want equity in access to higher education will support this judgment," Singh, adding reservation for OBCs would not affect other students. %u201CThere is no clash of interest".
Singh thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Sing and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for supporting him. On the Supreme Court excluding the creamy layer among the OBCs from the purview of the quota, the HRD minister said it would have some problem and the issue would have to be sorted out.The Supreme Court on Thursday upheld 27 per cent reservations for OBCs in higher educational institutions like the Indian Institutes of Management and Indian Institutes of Technology.

Quota
by NMO on Apr 10, 2008 02:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The quota in long run will harm the meritorious among them.
However creamy layer exclusion is a welcome step and should be applicable to all quota be for SC/ST.
Minority institutes should not be allowed in fact for secular subjects like medicine, engineering etc. where it mint money only..

Rewading the Oppressor
by Bodhrolok on Apr 10, 2008 02:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The issue here is opposing benefits for those who "DO NOT DESERVE" them.

The OBC who is the beneficiary is basically IS the "OPPRESSOR" of the really backward people in our country. So how does it improve the situation when you are rewarding the "OPPRESSOR" instead of punishing them for their misdeeds

This defies all Logic

Let the talent pool(General) go out of India... we will see more and more laws like that in UK banning Asian's in jobs... let u people go out and live in another foreign country like a second class citizen, we don't care... here in india we (OBC) rule, if you don't like it, well then its ur problem and you are free to go... this country has gone through many ups and downs, through many wars(from time immemorial), millions has been massacered, there were no CASTE hierarchy until the foreigners invaded, looted everything, many where straved to death; but still in spite of all these this great country is STANDING and that too STRAIGHT without any fear... if you think this reservation will DOOM this country, well i think u no nothing abt this wonderful country... you deserve to be thrown out of this nation... this country will progress whatever it takes and inspite of whoever comes or goes... you go and immiate Mr Goswami(immolate)... pathetic general categories... shame on you people...
