Reservations do not mean anything
by Secular India on Apr 10, 2008 02:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It may help some from backward background to get a chance in life they otherwise could not - because the entrance to IITs and IIMs are heavily biased towards people who prepare for the exam for years and people from poorer backgrounds cannot afford it.

However - when it comes to graduation from IITs and IIMs - they will have to compete with merit students - and then only the talented once amongst them will survive and get good jobs.

Upper castes have nothing to fear as seats are protected by increasing intake and also that they will develop greater sensitivity towards their less sophisticated brethrens.

BJP welcomes SC verdict on OBC quota
by siva sankar on Apr 10, 2008 02:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The BJP welcomed the Supreme Court verdict upholding 27 per cent reservation for OBC's in educational institutions supported by the Central government saying it was a victory for the downtrodden sections of the society.

Reacting to the judgement, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said, "We wanted the reservation and are happy about it but the problem is that government had promised that within three years it will create extra seats so that nobody suffers."

Javadekar said the reservation was very much required but the attitude of Union Human Resource Minister Arjun Singh had created problems in implementing the reservation laws.

"Had he been little considerate towards the concerns of those opposing it, the implementation could have been without controversies or friction," he said, reminding that all political parties including BJP had supported the Bill in Parliament.

Javadekar did not agree with the suggestion that the political parties were indulging in competitive populism and said the reservation for the poor and downtrodden sections was a natural justice and any growth has to be inclusive,%u201CNobody could exclude a major section like OBC who deserved attention. The BJP always stood by the spirit of social justice,%u201D he added.

This is what our politicians wanted and i am sorry that even the supreme court could not save our country from going back by 100 years where caste was the determining factor.

for the first time in my life today, i feel sorry to be called an Indian.

What injustice you are having now in India Mr.Ramu? Reservation is the worst injustice in a democracy. These reserved lazy people will only eat cream of India without contributing to it. Anyway I personally don't need any help from my country and rather don't think this is my country. Let India go to hell.

Supremacy of Brahmins
by Dheeraj Akula on Apr 10, 2008 02:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

5000 years of oppression is a big fat lie promoted by vested interests.

"Supremacy of brahmins" is yet another lie promoted by shameless anti-India vested interests.

According to the old varna vyavastha (old caste system), practised for thousands of years, Brahmins were restricted to temples, vedas and religious activities only, they never accumulated any wealth or amassed any property in the past. All the wealth was with vysyas, kshatriyas and sudras.

There were no "jobs" in those days. Jobs came up only after Britishers came to India.

Stop spreading lies.

Not only that. The brahmins have successfully degraded lower caste people to such an extend all during thousands of years that the burden of brahmin superiority is still not letting the dalits to lift their head. This is what that has to be changed

It is not true. I can agree with you for the past but at presnt it is only OBCs who never allow dalits to gain ground. Look at Mayawati, She has understood the real sinners and algined Brahmins Dalits and won.

you say as if there are only two casts in India Bramhin and Dalits. why the Bhamhins couldn't suppress non-dalits. it is because they were superior, hardworking, educated. The new judgment will only benefit elite dalits who actually controls the votebank by misguiding their poor castbrothers, may be you are one of those.
