The SC verdict upholds 5000 year old discrimination against Brahmins (B) to get into professions of Engg/ Mgt. Engg/ Mgt today - building steel, precision products, run business. Engg/ Mgt in old times - Pottery, Diamonds cutting, making chariots, Jewellers viz domain of Sudras (S) and Vaishyas. B choice of Spiritual pursuits ensured their relative poverty and their dependence on others. S was restricted from %u201CSpiritual%u201D GYAN (not others) - logic being absence of time or inclination towards Spirituality. Many (if not all) accepted this logic willingly & accepted B as their spiritual guides %u2013 which they received w/o Veda GYAN & gave them time for their profession. Dharma was known to ALL owing to knowledge of Puranas that was never withheld. Today%u2019s OBC actually identify themselves as Vaishyas/ Kshatriyas (and not S) but still seek reservation benefits! B have always discriminated themselves with self-inflicted restrictions - British actually discovered that B accounted for nearly all SATI cases but not other castes. Today of course, even B is not inclined towards %u201CSpirituality%u201D. While Dalit claims do hold valid ground, granting benefit to OBC/ some SCST is perversion of justice. The OBC will lose their monopoly for riches if B ends up learning their technical skills. The reservation therefore reinforces continuation of 5000 year old practice. Foolish Indians today read twisted logic of British/ Communists & determine their life!

I agree I am a daft. Unfortunately, I am unable to understand this logical world. I am however not fully opposed to reservations. The claims of dalits do have a valid ground though the approach for their upliftment can be smarter to make them more effective.

So long as Indans use terms like Bhngees and Chamaars in such a sarcastic and contemptuous manner, India will continue to need reservations. Only a change of upper caste attitudes will bring real equality of opportunity and a casteless society.

the judges seemed to have been influenced. its election year. congress is in a moment to dole out unlimited doles. everywhere. in karnataka they have to the borderline insane. free TV !!!! free tv, who needs a free tv ? rice at rs 2 for the underpriviliged is fine. but tv is nonsense. just because karunanidhi went nuts and gave people a tv - congress wants to match his lunacy.
keep 27% reservation in army also. But no OBC or BC want reservation there. No wonder people are leaving India for higher studies and not coming back. Keep reservation for EBC, than on caste. I have seen OBCs coming in CAR to take refund of there Rs 1000 fees.

they are leaving country caz no one is respecting talent in India. Gov jobs are all for BCs. My uncle completed his Phd and apply for a job as a prof. But tht job was given to BC having Msc degree. BC will not be able to go out of India and work as there is no reservation for them there. They dont have talent for tht. so you can see only open category guys outside India.
The posts clearly indicate Readers poor knowledge of the Indian situation and the necessity of reservation in India. Supreme Court has taken decision based on current facts. There could be several exesses but still reservation is the need of the hour. Only when per capita income of every Indian increase India can improve. The creamy layers who mostly type their message here can survive without any favor. Nobody wants to tackle the real problem. Why not remove caste eystem from Hindu religion? Are Brahmins ready to make mass marriages with dalit to address the social problem and show the way? Only then some day everyone gets reservation!

i dont quite understand your point. your rage is towards brahmins and the social backwardness/ awkwardness situation. im an obc, not an sc/st.
so is it about punishing brahmins or is it about empowerment ? people like ramadoss want to make it punishing the brahmins. but the real problem is watering down of merit.
its good that creamy layer has been excluded. but thats just an eyewash - cos they have given one concession.
as the court observed - the government should be monitored - no endless or forever clause for quotas. there should be a timeframe. say in the next 10 years - all quotas will end in a phased manner.
