K'taka: A race for tickets & caste games by on Apr 09, 2008 06:57 AM | Hide replies
4) There are lot of competitors for congress votes. JD(S), Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj party. While there is little competion for BJP votes. In coastral areas BJP gets vote from all Hindus whether Upper or lower castes. In other areas of Karnataka also it it will be getting votes from Lingayaths, Vokkaligas, Brahmins, OBCS as well as SCs/STs. 5) Congress is divided into 6 fractions. In 3 meetings held to select candidates in Gulbarga, Hassan and Bangalore there was heavy fist fights between various factions. BJP inspite of getting more applications had a smooth selection of canddidates. 6) Most of JD(S) votes last time would goto BJP than congress. 7) Congress never won without Bangarappa on its side. It lost in 1983, 1994, 2004 when Bangarappa fought separately. It returned to power when Bangarappa was in Congress in 1989 and 1999. 8) BJP has become stronger in old Mysore region where it was weak last time with defection from JD(S) and congress leaders. 9) We have tried rest. It is time to give BJP a chance seems to be the common opinion heard by everybody. 10) Price rise. Inadequate infrastructure.(Congress did not add 1 single km of highway to Golden Quadralateral in last 4 years), poor turnout during summer heat (BJP being cadre based party will bring out its voters) will be the reason number 10.

I think people of karnataka should think carefully before voting, since 50 years congress are ruling the gove in karnataka, but nothing done for the poor, minorities etc., in the last 20 months of Mr. Kumaraswamy as a CM he did lot of things to these sections his village stay, janatha darshans, banning the lotery, arack, increasing the pension of widows, senior citizens etc., from Rs. 100 to Rs. 400, sanctioning of record numbers of primary, secondary schools with teachers, givinng loans to farmers at 4% interest rate, waving the farmares loans upto Rs. 25,000/- these are all not small things in the last goverments nothing for anybody please vote JD (S)under leadership of Mr. Kumaraswamy

congress will lose votes of muslims to deva gowda party, dalits to mayawati pary, price rise, sympathy factor, appeasement of minorities, ram sethu issue, secret understanding of congress with karuna, strong hindu forces gaining popularity in coastal areas from mangalore to northen karnataka will bring bjp to power. kumaraswamys hard work will go vain if deva gowda goes to public meetings as people in karnataka hate him and consider him as''kumbakarna ''in ramayana.

are adding two zeroes instead of one zero to congress ? Wake up dude get a life.Stop Dreaming.Dont promote congress for just one masala dosa !
Ten reasons congress will lose and BJP will win. 1) Congress wanted to postpone elections by hook or crook in the name of delimitation. The plan failed. Next it tried to insite Karunadhi in making a very foul language statement like his statement that Sri Ram was a drunkard. It caused heavy backlash in Karnataka. 2) None of congress leaders have a safe seat compared to BJP leaders. Example Krishna not sure to contest in Bangalore or in Mandya. Siddaramaih not sure about the seat won last time. M.P.Prakash has to face BJP MP from Bellary. Kharge seat dereserved. Dharam Singh thinking of retiring and allowing his son to contest. Veerappa Moily, Janardhana Poojary like to enjoy Rajya sabha seats compared to fighting BJP in BJP strongholds in coastral karanataka. Compared to that BJP leaders are very safe. Yediyurappa from Shikaripur, Eshwarappa from Shimoga, Jnanendra from Tirthahalli, Shivanna from Tumkur, Visheshwar Hegde from Ankola, Krishna Palemar from Mangalore(Earlier surathkal), Jagadeesh Shettigar from Hubli rural, lot of leaders in Bangalore , Mysore are very sure to get elected. 3) BJP won big in all big cities in Urban body polls. Won Mangalore, Bellary, Davanagere, Hubli-Dharwad city corporations while giving much improved performance in Gulbarga and Mysore. After delimitation Bangalore will have 28 seats and 4 parliament seats enough to give BJP big heads up. And like Gujarat and Maharashtra now is 40 percent urban and many of the urban seats prefer BJP.

of course, The reason is karnataka politics has become caste base and polarized. You cannot expect much variation in result compared to 2004 result. Even in terms of votes share also not much difference
Seems like BJP is trying hard to reclaim UP from Maya after we hear support from Rajnath for Rahul.
BJP never sweeped tamil-nadu and did not last long in karnataka. After hearing Rajnikant statement on Kannads, people should not blame outside parties for the mess out there on river issue.
On the Rahul shower and soap issue. Maya can sense something but cannot see the full picture of Gandhi dynasty tactics.
They pulled in bunch of young faces in the new manmohan cabinet to set a trend for them being minister and not the PM.
Rahul and Sonia will be ticket distributors and watch from outside and wait for the moment to kill and grab the PM seat.
Maya can sense the wrong, but she cannot see it all. AS USUAL, idiot Indian public will be fooled.
Why is Rajnath butting in for Rahul? Does he wants Congress to be the sole party to control power and BJP be their sole opposition. Monopoly is no good for India.
Best of all, these young leaders from Congress will fight for Minister berth in cabinet. Will they decide one among them should be PM? This is why we say India is NOT fully democratic and cannot find the youth or some bright leader among them to LEAD whether it is congress, bjp or ....

If it were not India and there were princely states after British departure, TN would have taken over Karnataka. The Sinhalese would be all over the South and would have had few wars.

Stop dreaming DS. If that had been the case, then you would be living like a refugee like many Tamils are living in Srilanka.

Are you blind to the ground reality? Devegouda is not committed to Kannada pride, he is committed to himself first, his family next and none thereafter. He cares two hoots for Karnataka and India. Can you name one good thing he has done for Karnataka, leave aside India when he was the PM? And you have forgotton the idiotic drama he played when he drove his son to CM's post? He looks like a buff... All supporting him are buff...s too.
He is the one who regretted for being born in karnataka, how can he improve karnataka and kannadigas ? he has and can only bring bad name to Karnataka, kannada and kannadigas. BJP is better choice

What better do you think Congress has done. They have not spent, but looted Indian public for 60 years
DeveGowda is the worst person in this country. He is a bloody betrayer and a dam lier. He is responsible for putting politics and democratic values into the lowest level. Indians are ashamed that the Country ever had a PM like opportunist DEVE GOWDA.If his party get a single seat Indians will level Kannadigas foolish people and Kannadigas will lose respect country wide.So Ensure DeveGowda doest get a single seat.
