If China remains recalictrant....
by Ramesh Nittoor on Apr 08, 2008 09:46 PM  Permalink

We scarcely understand how societies have emerged to form communities, nations, evolved languages, religions, customs etc. Superimposed on these entities is the idea of the legal state. Clearly, Revered Dalai Lama is not rejecting the legal state of China, he only seeks freedom and rights to Tibet, akin to which every constituent state in India have been accorded. China in its communistic fervour had earlier sought to obliterate all religion and cultural vestiges of the past. The excesses of past included negating works of Confucius, Lao Tse and other teachers amongst others.

The Chinese geo-political determination to extend beyond East Asian to share borders with South Asia and proximity to Middle East is something, which revered teacher must have realised is something that can not be messed with, hence moderating of the stance. Even Indian leaders from Nehru to Vajpayee have accorded this reluctant recognition to China.

If China remains recalictrant the issue of Tibet issue may recede from this moderating stance.

What about blatant HR violations in US & India?
by ANINDA GHOSH on Apr 08, 2008 01:37 PM  Permalink

In J&K cat & mouse game, India has done enough HR violation. Even in Bhutan, we sent army 2 combat ULFA, may be jointly with some Bhutaneese army men . Bangladesh could not be freed without direct participation by Indian Army in the disguise of Muktifouz. Dharamshala is a safe heaven 4 Tibbetans 4 long. There are uncounatble influxes from Tibbet & Bangladesh daily . Now, is it very right 4 India 2 talk of Chineese atrocities?

What has happened in Gujarat is some of the worst of shameless affair in the history of mankind. We pride in re electing a genocidal CM, when SC transfers court cases from that state . In the name of curbing naxalite menace , we put Dr Vinayak Sen behind the bars. In Manipur , all women protested naked in front of the Bastille of 21st century--the Kangla fort of Assam Rifles. The total army & most of the police force is responsible 4 upsurge of militancy among muslims. Sikh riots have not recurred, but see dara case in Orissa; so many innocent christians are butchered.
And why talk about India alone? What about the US? Ustad Rashid Khan had to strip to allow full body checking in US . Old Muslim couples' bags r fortified by jubilant US security. The caging & raping of Iraqi youth in Baghdad not only by army men , but also by women folks r well known . How many children & women were bombarded in Iraq & Afganistan & why? Tienanmen is everywhere; where shall u go? to UK? Where innocents killed 4 terr

India needs to be rational and reasonable...
by tony goo on Apr 08, 2008 12:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I tried to put some opinions on the message board regarding the Tibet riot on Rediff, then I found some of them could not appear. There is a censorship behind this biggest website of India. My blog also could be deleted some day by Rediff, and I will not feel strange at that time.
Regarding the news of unrest of Tibet, many Indians are so excited and reasonless. It seems that not so many Indian people concerned about the reality happened in Lahsa on 14 Mar,08. Most of them just attack the neighboring country immediately without a logical reasoning.
I am a normal employee working for a Sino-US Joint-Venture with any communism background. I talked with some people, so my opinion should represent the idea of some Chinese people. After viewing the news ,columns and comments of Tibet, I tried to summerize as followings:
1. Indian concerned more about boarder issues with China, rather than Tibet issue.
2. Few netizens in Rediff inveast the reality in Lahsa on Mar 14.
3. Few netizens know China well. Almost noby ever visit Lahsa or other city in China. Their understanding still stops in the memery of 30 years ago.
4. The relation between India and China is still weak.
to be finished soon

xian ye... oh yeah!

i'd be happy if the chinese citizens acknowledged there is a serious amount of policing by the state. the more you deny, the more isolated you are.

Torch doused, wow thats the best piece of news i have heard today.

I can't wait for the world to thumb Beijing's nose and not turn up for the Games in Sept. Olympics and murders don't go hand in hand.

Wouldn't that be great.

yeah, best piece of news for the fake chinese agenda!

(i feel bad for the oppressed mass of citizens though - they number close to a massive 1 billion!!! only a handful of people are really with the government. everyone else hopes for a simple independence.

nothing wrong with china - just that the government is haughty, imperial, and seems to think they can get away with anything.)

simple independence = i meant, freedom of speech, freedom on internet, freedom from oppression, or no fear of the government. just a normal government where people can voice their opinion on anything without fear of disappearing.

at this rate - they'd better take the torch home directly on flight!

(and predictably, the chinese government will say the west lies, they are your enemy, hate the weat!

nevermind the fact that its their own government thats screwing their happiness, case in point - why doctor information ? why impose severe restriction on internet ?)

Liar. The olympic official went our torch himself. It is a shame that India has a group of evil like you. If you think it is right, then Indian will suffer the same situation from opponent next during the public celebration. Actually, we have seen it too many times. Indian muslim, Pakistan, seylon,Sikh, India also has offended many other ethnic. The best solution to keep negotiation, but not confront.
