Ravan - you evil man. BJP is running away from the anger of people in Karnataka. More political bigwigs are defecting to the Congress. Congress has the most number of aspirants per seat - there is a virtual stampede to get a Congress ticket. Why? Congress is seen to sweep the elections. SM Krishna will be back at the helm

Very correct . The EC whose impartial nature is important to democrasy could be seen as corrupt if election commissioners after retirement join polilical parties! Their decisions while as commissioners may be seen as 'investment' for the future

Youth Or dynastic politics
by suman on Apr 07, 2008 10:31 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Are we a democracy or a fedual society? Jyotiraditya Schindia, Jitin Prasad, Sachin Pilot, Supriya Sule, Konimozhi.......... All are son/daughters of powerful poloticians. Bobby Jindal, a first generation politician, could become governor in USA at a very young age. But in India youth means children of dynastic politicians.

Young blood in Union Cabinet
by NARAYAN KURUP on Apr 07, 2008 10:13 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a useless exercise on the part of the Congress leadership at the final year of the current Lok Sabha. The blood may be young but it is filled in old bottle. No miracle can be brought out by these so called 'young turks' and on the other hand there will be considerable outflow from national exchequer by way of salary, perks, allowances, travelling expenses etc., of such Ministers and their Staff. The UPA Government has miserably failed on all fronts and they are not going to gain anything during their remaining period in office.

CEC as minister
by suman on Apr 07, 2008 10:07 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

congress has made former CEC M S Gill a minister. Perhaps M S Gill encashed a post-dated cheque for helping Congress during his tenure as CEC. There should be a model code of conduct for ensuring impartiality of election comission.

RE:CEC as minister
by PC Sahay on Apr 07, 2008 10:37 AM  Permalink
Yes I fully agree. Ex-CECs/ECs should NOT be made Ministers or any other such appointments. This would affect the impartiality of EC as there would be rush by EC members to please Political parties/bosses inpower for future encashment. Rightly said in this case a post dated cheque has been encashed by Gill.
