Why negotiation on this particular issue? Did Karnataka abide by the Supreme Court verdict in Cauvery dispute? Better that Karunanidhi withdraw support to UPA at the Centre than meekly surrender.

A state which flouts even supreme court judgment,It is not surprising for an "agitation" that too when fueled by vested interests . It is strange that the supreme court did not admonish the noncompliance of its verdict

I don't think that will do good in any way except to bring one more unwanted election more quickly at the cost of tax-payer's money

There is no dispute on this present issue. It is clear that TN has full right for implementing the project, which has been conceded by the Karantaka Govt. through its officials. Let the Centre headed by Manmohan and Sonia accept this fact as national leaders and not play dirty regional politics.

karthick, I don't think elections in india costs tax payers money. It actually boosts the economy because of the spending. And a lot of poor people gain money during this exercise. And also in TN, it brings the opposition to power which makes business people to think on corruption as the powers can alternate. So, it reduces corruption atleast on a miniscule scale.
But karunanidhi does not have the power to bring down the government.
smk is the real diplomatic politician. he never supports violence either from his own ppl or from his neighbouring states...the gentleman he is, thats the reason, he was not the chice during the 2004 election, as he couldnt take a confrontationist stand wrt belgaum or cauvery...it will be interesting to see wat will happen after the election...
SM Krishna must be in a real catch-22. In one hand he has to answer to madamji for his talks who won't be impressed with his bad mouthing of a very important electoral ally, on the other hand he has to win the KTK state elections for her. Damn, its catch - 22 for everyone in congress

I don't think BJP was involved in the clearing of the project. It was Janata Dal if I'm correct. TN BJP is busy sucking up to all parties to show that it does not like KTK BJP.

It is indeed a typical BJP game. They never talk about development. They are always for emotive election-eve campaign. This Yeddurappa doesn't have any strong hold to face the coming elections. So as usual they started their game.

Krishna is right. What do you mean by that ? I read what Kalaignar spoke and it was not provocative.
