I didn't use harsh words against Karnataka: Karunanidhi
by Nichenametla AswathaKumar on Apr 03, 2008 12:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

"
To use provocative language and subsequently to say that he has not told like that".

This is the nature of Karunanidhi. People have not forgotten what he has told about Lord Rama and Sethu Bridge.

People will be watching what politicians say.

Anti tamilian attitude by kannadigas
by gopalsankar gopalsankar on Apr 03, 2008 12:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hogenakkal integrated drinking water scheme was mutually agreed by both karnataka and tamilnadu long back.Due to cheap political mileage the Karnataka BJP is raking up the issue after sleeping for more than 10 years. The same ediyurppa when he was CM for 7 days didn't talk about the above issue and now due to election all political parties in karnataka is taking-up the issue. When we could not respect our fellow indians how can we develop our country.

Tamil Nadu is the most QUARRELSOME and HYSTERICAL state in the country. It has to accept that it is a RAIN SHADOW state of the Western Ghats and will always face water shortage. Remember our Geography in school. It shouls accept this and change its water consumption patterns for crops as well as drinking water instead of fighting with Kerala over Mulla Periyar, Karnataka over Cauvery and the Hogennekal falls and of course Andhra Pradesh from whom it regulary begs and borrows Krishna water! But their politicians are busy pandering to vote banks and the poor masses of Tamils living outside Tamil Nadu will bear the brunt of fury.

Mr. Jai babu

The IT companies in karnataka will not run if TN stops distribution of current to karnataka. Tamilnadu supplies majority of electricity to the southern states, what happens if TN stops supplying electricity to Karnataka. The entire karnataka will be in Dark. But they didnt do that....

Cauvery
by Muniasamy Gurusamy on Apr 03, 2008 12:32 PM  Permalink

Very sad. Basic issue is that the demand for water is more than the supply. Theer are well laid norms to share river waters, where the rivers flow thru many countries. Centre should establish some norms and ensure that the same is implemented. In this issue, centre seems to be only a silent spectators. This is not correct on the part of the centre. In a situation like this, the centre should have power to take over the dispute and come out with a scheme which will deliver justice to both the parties involved. If this is not done quickly, there is a great danger to the souverignity of the country.

TN and Its Fatal Water Politics
by outspoken on Apr 03, 2008 12:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When all states are having new generation leaders as CMs, Tamil Nadu still has this old shagger repeating every 5 year. Tamil Nadu has antagonised all neighbouring states with its greed for water without showing the courtesy of respecting the donor's needs and anxieties. The dilapidated Mullaperiyar dam in Kerala is the latest example of TN obdurance, where it is banking on a court order to raise the height of the dam. The 100 yr old cracking dam fearing colapse, will wash away 5 million keralites in 5 districts.

This is very worst and foolish comment, the adjoining state people with TN are behave like mind less. Specially Kerala is so selfish, that thing already proven in Salem & Palakad Railway division. They want to get benifits from TN and they don't want to spend anything for TN. Even Karnataka is not following the SC order and Cauvery Tribunal Order, they are not following the rules.

Tamil nadu speaking about respecting court verdict!!. Remember the Tamil Nadu Bandh when he even went against the courts? or the Reservation issues? or the Ban on Jallikattu? Every political thug protested and had their own way. Tamil Nadu will always face water shortage. It should accept this and change its water consumption patterns for crops as well as drinking water instead of fighting with Kerala over Mulla Periyar, Karnataka over Cauvery and the Hogennekal falls and of course Andhra Pradesh from whom it regulary begs and borrows Krishna water! How many CASH CROPS which are very WATER INTENSIVE are cultivated in Tamil Nadu! But their politicians are busy pandering to vote banks instead of finding solutions and Tamils will bear the brunt of nature's fury.

Reservation issues, Jallikkattu ban are different, it's the interstate issue and this issue between two states, remember the Railway exams and issues happend at Karnataka. Mulla Periyar and Hogennekal are the part of TN. Remember the Karnataka history. In future Keralites and Kannadigas may said that Chennai is the part of their state. Its purely political stunt.

Certainly it is not at all done for any political mileage by any party
Basci necessaties like food water electricity are a problem in our country even after 6 decades of independent ruling . It is bascially the citizen of this country should decide on what they need no political leader or can party can do that.
We should have a hoilstic approach to this issue infact to all the issue related to the mear existence of humans or indians
What is the point in merging two states then in that case there should no state at all it can even be done on zones
We can club all the states into 4 zones and have a 2 party system where the president is given all the power and answerable to the citizen and supreme court and issue like this are very sensetivie as the cost is towards the human life why is the uplinking of all the rivers is given up , if the ganges is linked to the cavery then will be tonns and tonns of water ,this is the best soluction to this in fact we the citizen should raise the voice on this and get there necessity in time.
Here no one has to settle score against each other as individual or as states
Water is the gift of nature
Take leeds from the middle east countries see how they are managing there water resources they do not have water as a natural resource as we have in india
so please do not add fuel to the issue just wait and watch and think logically to slove the issue

The only solution to solve the cauvery problem, which is linked to the Hogenakal problem is to merge TN and Karnataka and make it one state.
