Just another reason
by vinu manijose on Apr 02, 2008 04:56 AM  Permalink

this is just another reason to get out of bangalore before it all comes crashing down. its nothing like the paradise it used to be say four or five years ago. the roads are all chocked up, the youth culture is at risk of getting eradicated. (remember there are no discs in bangalore now, and the pubs get closed up at 11..aww cmon, and booze just got a hell of a lot more expensive from today). The autowalas are teh worst goondas in anywhere in teh country (im not just saying that...ive been everywhere and compared). The airport is going to be a three hour drive from the city. The water is not good enough to be consumed straight from the tap. The weathers starting to change. and now the communal tensions as well. Congrats sons of the soil, you are well on your way to destroying the charm that bangalore prided itself in. well done.

Cauvery!
by cooolsummers on Apr 02, 2008 02:56 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tamils get things done either by deceiving or by threating others. They are definitely smart people but that does not work in issues like Cauvery water.

If you see Karnataka is very different geographically due to geographical position of Nilgiri hills and effect on rain fall due to Arabian sea currents. Karnataka follows slightly different season cycle than rest of the country. Most of the people do not know this and their dependency on river water is lot higher.

On the other hand Tamilnadu should do a better water resource management and rain water harvesting. Bay of Bengal is more dependable for rains as it has immediate effect of low-pressure in sea. Every other year we see floods in chennai and other parts of tamilnadu and in just few weeks there's scarcity for water.

(i know one of my friends had to buy around 20 water bottles to finish his bath to go to a job interview and that's Chennai!!!)

I think the following can help:
Karunanidi should remove his dark glasses and see the reality.
Jaya amma should stop shopping jewelry and shoes and spend sometime on this issue.
Finally, Rajni should stop punching dialogues and do some social work.

cheers,

Bgl is developed by British bcos of its climate like wat they hav done to ooty and later developed by Tamils(all ppl know that Tamils r Majority in bgl)...

Time to take some action !
by GreatAshu on Apr 02, 2008 02:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India has unity in diversity - we are land of many cultures, religions, languages. It takes just few words for anyone to spread hatred among these diversities. This I guess is the disadvantage of being a diversed nation.

India has been facing these problems for a long time, may be from the day India was born. Few recent cases that come to mind are...

Anti sikh riots
Godhra case
Post Godhra riots
omnipresent Hindu-muslim riots
Anti north-Indian remarks by MNS
Tamil-Kannadiga problems

No government, no judiciary and no leader can solve these problems. Few leaders in fact can support the activities to divide people for vote politics.

Its the onus on people of our country to ignore such sparks and be restrained from these vote politics otherwise it will get tough to live in India among this chaos.

Anand C,

I am not an idiot but you definitely are a moron!

I am not saying don't migrate. I am saying don't complain about bad treatment you experience when you couldn't do the same in your own state!

You are looking at this from the white-collar point-of-view.

When was the last time you heard about a well-heeled professional face any adverse treatment on the streets of any city because of his native status?

Even in Banglore, if things get out of hand do you really think it will affect well-to-do professionals?

I am talking of the very poor who are driven out because nobody cares enough to fight the apathy and corruption in their own states!!

Suraj,
You definitely have an interesting point. If all of us think the same way, then we have to go to to the pre 1947 princely state concept only. The concept of a free citizen in a free country would be completely lost. About the white collar and brown collar comparison, i am sure that is like something unrelated. Remember even an Adobe CEO was not spared. So remember a mob does not bother about white collar or a brown collar, when they have to take out their failures and frustrations at somebody, in the name of securing land back for their bretheren. Ultimately who gets hit.. people who are known to you and me for such shallow arguments propounded by somebody like you. Remember its a free country, and you also get the same chance to try anywhere you want. So this is not an favour dolloped just to somebody from a particular state.

Anand,

I know it is a free country and a country which has a law and order apparatus. If you do find yourself in an ugly situation (the colour of your collar notwithstanding), you can always seek help from the law!

Remember what Amitabh said about this last week?

My contention is that if you want to fight for your constitutional rights, rediff is not the place to waste your energy!

And if all that fails and you manage to have any semblance of spine, you can respond in kind to any attack or assault in the name of self-defense!

But the point still remains the same. If you can do this outside your state or city, why not in your own backyard??

Suraj,

You sound like a stupid. So let that being the case Tamilnadu can use atomic power from Kalpakkam, from koodankulam etc etc. So do the IITs, IIMs and IISc offer admissions for people from the same state. You can imagine the quality of these institutions then. The same way let Karnataka use whatever it does in their soil. Why then "Unity in Diversity" concept. Why don't you ask all kannadigas to come back and live in Karnataka? You sound so childish. In fact, your thoughts can be very poisonous.

Yes! I would love to ask the Kannadigas to comeback to their state. But would give up your home in Karnataka to accomodate them?

Why blame the Kannadigas if you people couldn't built the institutes and infrastructure like they did in your states?

When your politicians cheated and looted you, you sat with your thumbs up your behind and now you want to fight for lofty ideals like "Unity in Diversity" in other states?!

You people are all pathetic!!

Dear Editor - do not portray Kannadigas as Goondas
by K Sudharshana on Apr 02, 2008 02:12 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In the whole of India, if there is a peaceful city, cordially living people it is only Bengaluru and Kannadigaru.

I agree there were riots before and now also there are fears of riots getting evoked.

But, when such a sensitive issue can ravage the livelihood of many people, it should have been thought responsibly by Karunanidhi before making provocative statements. He will be the one and only responsible person for whatever bad incident which might take place.

My question to all people who are shouting against Kannadigaru is :

If the same situation had to happen in Chennai, all you people would have reacted in the same way?

Kannadigaru does not have to learn the lesson of peace from people who would ask you learn Tamil as soon as you get into the city of Chennai.

It's only Kannadigaru who are so kind to other language people. Who would help them to the extent of even talking to Non-Kannadigru in their own language.

I am sure any Non-Kannadiga would agree to the ground reality in Bengaluru.

But, it's disgrace that even with all such tolerance, people call you as Goondas.

Dear Editor, please avoid such a kind of article which is indirectly provocative and depict a section of people as Villains.

The major problem is that we dont have an educated youth. Just being literate doesnt mean one is educated.

Mar. 20--JAIPUR -- Gujarat government will soon release Rajasthan's share of Narmada river waters through the Sardar Sarovar. This was announced by Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi here on Sunday.

Speaking at a function, Modi said water from Sardar Sarovar would be made available to Rajasthan without any loss of time.
