Oh, but it works just as well for our DMK-lovers. Roddy McDowell is an excellent actor, and his speech is one of the finest Liberation speeches ever given in any movie. He is a far better speaker and orator than Muthuvel Karunanidhi or even Periyar.
I'm surprised Tamil cinema or bollywood haven't copied the idea, and Indianized it for Indian audiences. I'm sure DMK would love it, anyway.

Lesson DMK is yet to learn : Dont mix personal views (on atheism) with CM's official view (which should be to respect all religions and keep shut on these matters and concentrate on convincing the real need for sethu).

CM is supposed to represent secular state, not take his personal views as state views.
Let him hate rama, god etc as a individual and give comments on a holiday in his home.
As a CM his duty is to represent all the people of state, including vaishnavites, bramins and hindus.
