I am an indian and I am pained at daggers being drawn in the name of God. There is no denying the fact that Lord Ram lives in hearts of millions who have the freedom of religion. To ridicule Ram is like ridiculing the faith of some, which are politicians are quite capable of.
My community, the sikhs have faced a lot of ridicule during recent Dera controversy when a small time crook tried to act like Guru Gobind Singh. Media and the so called intellectuals called sikhs as fools and tried to compare the colour of clothes and the photographs of Guru Gobind Singh to blame intolerance on sikhs. The point was that dera head ridiculed the sacred Amrit Sanchar Ceremony of Sikhs like some politicians are questioning existance of Lord Ram.
Lord Ram epitomises truth and is a dutiful son, an ideal husband and elder brother who is reliable. There can be n number of debates and counter questioning on his physical existance but ridiculing him is like blasphemy.
It pinches when somebody ridicules your faith. It really pinches me when majority enjoy by sikh jokes. Understand the pinch me dear friends.
Love your religion. Then you will respect all religions.
All show way to God. It is fight between believers and non-believers. Do not make it Hindu vs Muslim fight.

Well said... Some people are even trying to exploit one comment by Sangh Pramukh that Guru Gobind Singh has given references of Ram in there Book. Shame on these comunist non-nelievers....

There are references to Ram, Rahim, Narayan, Allah, Parmeshwar etc. in Guru Granth Sahib. All these are synonyms of God and not refering to any particular individual of particular faith.
References are there to episodes from Ramayan, Mahabharat and other ancient texts which means that people believed in them five hundred years back also.
At the same time Guru Gobind Singh also says ' Ram Rahim Puran Kuran, Anek Kahe Mat Ek Na Maniyao'

Dear Amandeep, whatever r written in these spiritual books r experiences of great Yogies. What they experienced. These r only guidelines, but One has to go onthis journey himself before realising the ultimate truth and At that level every statement is correct and at the same time every statement is incorrect. You and me become one and same at that level, so Amandeep is Ram, Ram is Rahim, Rahim is Christ and Christ is Karunanidhi. The Intelligence is simply dissolved or becomes infinite.

true. But I have recently read a book by Krishnamurti and he comes with a statement that the moment Intelligence is achieved than realisation comes that there cannot be any conflict as Intelligence can communicate with other Intelligence. And with non intelligence, Intelligence looks with compassion, so Karunanidhi is a subject for Compassion from all Beleivers of GOD.
What about our dearest Mr. Gandhi who supposedly said "Hey Ram" while he was living his last few seconds of life... Congress is forgetting the very own purpose to put word "Hey Ram" in dead Mr. Gandhi's mouth. Perhapse its no longer required because there are no comuunity called united Hindu. Actually they are Brahman, Bania, Gurjar, Meena, Dalit etc... So they purpose is our in past 60 years. Now the second round
This is a planned thing to remove the faith for our culture and our values... if we ones question for "Ram" we need to question for each and everything and evantually we will loose our self respect and dignity that from last so many years we living our some "Myth". This is the thing which outsiders want to do... Please be united believe on "Ram". If somebody wants the proof of Ram .... first go and do some research (not internet surfing).. read Puran, Geeta, Ramayan, Mahabharat, Ved ... they are so much linked to each other that if a single person tries to write such kind of linked stroies even with different physical places names and leaving evdiences at every place... its either impossible or he must be a super genious... Just need to mention that from ages of Ram and Krishna... how many times we have been attacked by muslims, angrezs, our temples have been destoyed and out books have been ablazed... we are still having our cultured transfered by beliving in what our grand parents and parents are saying and transfering it further...
Communists not having faith on any religion. But they support muslims, christian reservation on the basis of religion. They dont like congress but they support congress, they dont liek to spoort congress, US nuke deal, but they support. Like this every thing they dont like but they do because of BJP. So no value for Communists words, acts and values.

Karunanidhi don't know what he had done... It was already North v/s South but from now onwards it will be Rest of India vs. Tamilian (non believers of Ram). Earlier we were not knowing that they hate "Ram this much" but now we know... so its all heated up. So we have one more to tally ... - Savarn vs Dalit - Brahman vs Yadav - Gurjar vs Meena - General vs OBC ...... and it goes on and on...

Everything in our lives are not science and eveything in our lives need not be proven. Some things are followed with no questions asked and why should people having no religion question others who follow it. Faith/religion is supposed to be one's personal choice. People like Karuna who follow no religion should have the minimum decency to maintain silence and not hurt followers of a faith. He should remember that he's in power also b'coz a large number of Hindus too have voted him by unseating Jaya. No one has gifted him CM seat just like that.
Congress is more responsible for Hindu Muslim divide than anyone else. Congress rejected the Savarkar's true defination of being a Hindu. Hindu is a synonym for bein Indian. The word itself is derived from river Sindhu. Hindu word deosn't exist in any of the vedic texts. Hinduism is about culture, traditions, philosophy and respecting all beliefs. But congress defined it as religion. That is the root cause of all problems. Even today, Pakistani leaders call India as Hindustan. But, we fail to recognise this. Communists and Congress leaders are more communal than anyone else. In the name of secularism, they look for Muslim vote bank and are responsible for backward Muslim community. Whether Ram existed or not is not the real issue. But, when you make such political statements you are actually trying to communalise the issue. That's what Karunanidhi is doing and then blaming BJP for communalising the issue. He could have handled the issue in a more delicate way rather than spreading hate. It is as if without Sethusamudram, TN is not going to prosper. They can attract much more revenue from tourism from Adam's bridge (if they don't like to call it Ram Sethu).
Maybe Sankarachariar is guilty, but the Courts must decide that. Why did the Ram BHaktas humiliate him?
How come all the Tamil Historical Temples were in very bad condition before Kalaignar came. Kalaignar has put hundreds of crores of State money to repairr them.
Thanks to Kalaignar, een though he is a non-beleiver, there is communal harmony. Hindus, Muslims and Christians are all happy.
A minute section of fanatics are shouting but the majority are with Kalaignar's right of Free Speech (even though we may or not agree with him).

The tamil historical temples were restored by Jayalalitha. Only ancient sites pertaining to Tamil literatuer got Karunanidhi's attention.

The proposal was there but never went through. The Big Temple gets international and central funds due to the world heritage site bestowed by UNESCO.

If you look at the bigger picture, Kalaignar's tenure has been good for revival of Tamil Culture and Hinduism.
This remark does not mean he is attacking Hindus. Action-wise his tenure is better.. Occasional soundbites and playing to the Gallery aside.

Revival of Tamil culture - Yes. But on Hinduism - Karunanidhi's performance was neutral till this unwarranted statement on Ram.
As a CM, Karunanidhi should have displayed more maturity in not making statements that can hurt a majority community.

JJ turned Tamil Nadu into a mad house of her own religious beliefs.. trying to influence even the Kanchi Mutts and Madurai Adheenam.
Religious organizations must be free .. Kalaignar's role here is better. He rarely interferes in Temple or Mutt or Church issues.
His comments on Ram are plainly playing to the DK base to show that he has not lost touch with his political roots. It must be taken in that context. Tamilians will ...
