You guys are krrrrrrazzyyy... Right from the start of this whole nuclear deal issue,WB CPI(M) has never been in favor of taking such hardline as idiot Karat. Each and everyone was against it. That's why Yechuri tried to dilute the situation by forming committee, etc. It was difficult to go out in the open and ask Karat to stop as he is the General secretary of the party. Now, when the guy has gone to extreme, party leaders are trying to shut him up. It was first Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and now Basu. FYI, Karat has been already sidelined and soon maybe kicked out alltogether. Karat has become a baggage for the party and is being counterproductive.
So, now why start attacking Basu and others for speaking out? As if all problems of India has been created by a small regional party? How ridiculous? Don't we have out Mulayam, Lalu, JayaLalitha, Karunanidhi, Mr. Modi, Bal Thackeray, et all to be more creative in creating the mess? And where does the entire Bengali community come into picture? So, now when Karunanidhi starts yelling Ram doesn't exist, does that mean you all start abusing all Tamils? Or for that matter Bal Thackeray orders to dig up the cricket pitch, you start abusing all Maharashtrians? Maybe now we'll see someone writing Ganguly caused this fiasco. What a joke? Get a life guys and write something meaningful.
No one--not even Bengalis are emotional about Basu. Basu has forced all the Bengalis with creative mind outside the state and country so that he can survive happily with his leg pullers.All emotions that u see in the blogs are from his leg lickers. If India don't seal this N-Deal then it will be impossible for India to get Uranium for New and old Nuclear plants. Without signing Nonproliferation Treaty India can't get Uranium for Nuclear plants from any country in the world. Australia has the world 60% of uranium reserves. And without USA concern no one in the world will give uranium to India. It is the best time for India to use USA and get uranium from his allies, after 20 -30 years India become so capable that it would not need USA for Nuclear plants.

Good thing abt Jyoti Babu's rule in Bengal: 1.He took bengal out of the darkdays of congress/naxal troubles. Bengal became overall the most peaceful state in India with virtually no COMMUNAL PROBLEMS like UP,Bihar or Gujrat. 2. Bengal became the most successful state in land reform. That means the very poor got a chance to survive. NO SUICIDE OF FARMERS like in Maharastra. He focussed too much on villages as a result the big cities suffered and Kolkatta was no exception. 3. He provided one of the cleanest and most educated ministry in India. Bengal finance minister Dr.Dasgupta is a PhD from MIT USA, previously Dr.A.mitra was another renowned economist. Bongs didnt become millionires or billionires bt most bengali could survive. It was a phase of progress for bigger section of society. Cultural heritage was preserved. 4. He was an astute administrator, mass leader and had great forsight. Jyoti Babau has played a long innings in politics and all those were nt without idealism. He himself was a barrister from London.Could have a very cosy life in stead he gave his life for common people. 5. He ruined great presidency college with politics, he couldnt get rid of that. but may be it was nt that easy for him either. 6. Most of Guys I met in Calcutta, respond " AA TO HOBE NAA" Means it can not be done.
I found them utterly negative and slow to respond. Non co operative attitude starts and is visible right from Calcutte airport, the moment you land.
Ofcourse Bengal has slipped to 15th spot in terms of Industrialisation of states in India. One time it used to be Number 1.
In Calcutta Suburbs I find Young Goons playing Carrom and threatening the locality, upon Enquiry, you come to know that they belong to CPI or forward block, local henchmans.!!

For differrent reasons Both Gujarat and West Bengal do not have FDI, but look into Gujarat, They have 25% of Indian Investment for 2007!!

8.At last bongs like Basu coz he behaves like a strong man with vision, nt like whimsical and principleless opposition Mamta. Basu is always very pragmatic yet he is nt too emotional. He knows his limitations and he also knows very well, where he is good. He often reminds us about great Subhas Bose. We were unlucky to have that great leader, the real tiger to lead us post independent India. Congress were the traitor behind Netaji's disapperance, and in the ground level most bongs know that. Jyoti Babu somwhere fills that gap.
During freedom struggle many Bengali fighters gave life. Thats why we also value and respect people like Bhagat Singh. Netaji, the right leader was back stabbed by Neheru and his family. We can never forgive congy, neheru gandhi family coz if we do that we will disrespect our real freedom fighters.
Jyoti Basu stuck his neck out a bit. But the approach is still diffident. As he feels nuclear energy is needed, he could have been clearer.
1. We are not self sufficient in technology or fuel. 2. There are over 400 nuclear reactors producing 400,000mw in mostly developed countries, about 4 times our energy output. 3. The safety aspect has improved, though nothing is 100%. The lessons of Chernobyl & Three Mile have to be studied. 4. If we are not interested many others, even oil rich Indonesia & Malayia are going ahead. 5. It is not that uranium is overflowing. It has to be mined. The shortage in supplies is met by decommissioning of uranium rich nuclear weapons mainly in Eastern Europe. So we still have to fight to secure the supplies. 6. The grand standing of Karat & Yechury seems out of reality. I am reminded of an activity in college, when we put up certain "demands", we had to watch all others in action when we were sidelined. It is only a matter of time Pakistan & Bangla Desh will be big players, while we try to catch up.
The only solution will be for Karat & Yechury to step forward to solve our energy problem and wean us away from oil, as we are 70% dependent on Middle East. As they are in govt still, let them give clear road maps, and they need not necessarily go after nuclear energy. If they do, they can even secure it from China.
It is time they put real efforts in nation building. I will be first to bow my head to them.
