Sati Pratha in india came after islamic invasions.We all including ancestors were following vedas>But Arab invaders used to abduct beaytiful women and justify Jihad on the name of Islam so to protect that Women in India stated covering Face.The first historic account of sati pratha is after islamic invasion, to save themselves for getting raped and humiliated those valiant ladies at that time to die instead of catching alive.People made it a pratha.It was an act of self protection.In the light of vedas this pratha is inhuman.Do read history prior to advent of Islam and after that.When adi shankara took birth at that time women were not veiled they were educated. adi shakara had a long debate in sanskrit with a wife of Brahmin scholar.all these are written histories.

the day majority muslims are able to condemn the bad elements in their society, will be the beginning of their rise.
i am neither a hindu nor a muslim, but have lived in a muslim majority area and have seen that any moderate voice that even slightly differs from conventional beliefs (and i do not mean their religious basics) of a muslim society is severely suppressed.
i do not know what may be able to change it, but, i have seen dissent very much difficult to express among muslims by muslims.
i also do not mean that hindus are progressive, but at least you can see people challenging the conventional beliefs if they are not logical.
the stranglehold of conventional stupidity is still there, but, hindu society has moved ahead after independence, but muslim society has not been able to keep pace.

Mr.Invisible let me just clarify a few things...u thank allah that ur a minority in India and not any Islamic state like pakistan where the minorities are treated like shit! we should be thankful to the Almighty that we are in a secular country like India. It is also noteworthy that reservations are not a solution for upliftment at all. It should rather be merit than religion which should be basis for jobs or education. the problem with our religion is that we preach a lot of things which are not practical and blame others for opressing us. I agree with you that life in Pakistan is like shit. No Indian muslim would like to move to Pakistan. India does not exclusively belongs to Hindus.Now the real problem does exist about the discrimination muslim face in police, in hospital, at work. I agree with Jitesh reservation is not the solution and would love to see when hindu reservation are abolished.
India has to find some real solution and initiate a dialogue with the minorities so that they can be part of New india. Sowing seeds to hatred would not do any good to anyone. Islam is not against science. Please read the book Quran and Science by Dr. Maurice Bucaille.

Yes sir, Thats an interesting point to bring up. We all are seeing the scientific progress made by countries where science oops islam originated.
We are also witnessing so many scientists being produced by MIT (Madarasa Institute of Technology) who keep reciting the same old book which is nothing but mother of all sciences.
We must have been fools all these years that we didn't take it seriously. At least now we should all wake up and urge the government to make quran as mandatory for all those who would like to study science.
