Yes you are right, Hindu is not the name of religion as it doenot go thruough a prophet ( a preacher of religion). Hindu is the name given by Arabs. The people of the continent including are all Hindus as they live in this land and follow a culture of this land. They belive in self searching and self beliveing not in something left as a legacy, thats only the truth. People may say they follow x y z, but the truth is that they are always self searching or they are searching the space. Muslims/Christians etc. are also searching and bowing to space, space has no start and end....but u and I have. Everthing has an end, the ocean also has an end, Ram sethu also has an end, Mohammad also had an end, Rama slso had an end, Jesus also had and end, Buddha also had and end, but space(Allah/Ishwar/God/Bahm) doesnot have and end.

Mr Khan I feel pity on you as you have tried to reach the gold but just did not get it and since you could not get it, you now call it impure and worthless. You must go to the depths of Hinduism to understand it and not just reading some superficial comments on Hinduism, made mostly by the Britishers and the Communists. I challange you, if you go to the depths of Hinduism and really understand the concept of it, you will forget all about religion and rites and rituals and will be a true Hindu yourself.

@K Khan You said: 'According to Hinduism, he said, God created man unequally. People are innately divided into four groups, called "castes."'
All humans have different nature and should adopt work as per their nature (Brahmanas, ksatriyas, vaisyas and sudras are distinguished by their qualities of work in accordance with the modes of nature. -- Bhagavad Gita 18.41). This is only logical and anything contrary will only lead to frustration and chaos.
'"That is the worker class -- the people behind India's industrialization, the guys who pull the rickshaws, the guys who work in the fields, the farmers, etc.," he said.' And the 'he' is? Anyway, not just those people even the technical ones who work in IT or other industries are shudras (including myself). They have all the rights except for reading the shruti which requires many years of training in vedanga and other aspects to be able to understand the vedas. All should read the smritis including puranas and itihasas (particularly Mahabharata) in any case.
'Outside the caste system -- that is, the "outcastes" -- are the Dalits.'
This has nothing to do with sanatana dharma. Of course, those who do not follow the sanatana dharma are outside the varnashrama and have been termed variously in the texts (e.g. mlecchas, yavanas, ...). Some people for their selfish interests introduced this practise which should have been gotten rid of if not for the politics of british and then by Ambedkar.

Some politically motivated people could not bear one of the versions presented in this exhibition. It showed that according to Jataka version of Ram Katha, in post Brahminical Buddhist Dashrath Jataka Sita is both as sister and wife of Ram. As per this version Dashrath is King not of Ayodhya but of Varanasi. The marriage of sister and brother is part of the tradition of glorious Kshtriya clans who wanted to maintain their caste and clan purity. This Jataka tale shows Ram to be the follower of Buddha. Similarly in Jain versions of Ramayana project Ram as the propagator of anti-Brahminical Jain values, especially as a follower of non-violence. What do both Buddhist and Jain version have in common is that in these Ravana is not shown as a villain but a great soul dedicated to quest of knowledge and is a spiritual soul, with majestic commands over passions, a sage and a responsible ruler.

The tale which you have read seems to be written by someone like you. I donot deny that people like you are born just now. There were people like you even in the past with these weird ideas. Good work! Forget above God and Divinity and waste your precious time on such stupid theories. May Lord Ram bless you with wisdom.

Everything is myth everything which is created will perish one day. Still people run after Money, Power and Women- the myth begins with these and ends at these. If you think you are a part u r if you think u r not u r not. Allah is a space,God is a space, Iswar is a space, Brahm is a space, donot give them any face of Mohammad or Jesus or Rama or Buddha or Mahavir or Guru Nanak, they are human incarnation who made the masses to follow a space (the truth). They showed u the path to attin AttainHeaven/Nirvana/Moksha/Jannat? what is it? a myth or truth? know after you are no more, u r all part of a game who have some administrators in the background. The make you play in a certain way, like I m writing a message on rediff, its also an act of game...a myth. You all are myth I m only the truth I am a space a space a space which cannot be defined.

This might be the opinion of some government spin doctors. In the opinion of other experts like S. Badrinarayanan National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), the Ram Setu can only be a man-made structure. In his words:
%u201CCoral reefs, are formed only on hard surfaces. But during (our) study we found that the formation at the Bridge is nothing but boulders of coral reefs. When we drilled for investigation, we found that there was loose sand two to three meters below the reefs. Hard rocks were found several meters below the sand.%u201D
%u201CSuch a natural formation is impossible. Unless somebody has transported them and dumped them there, those reefs could not have come there. Some boulders were so light that they could float on water. Apparently, whoever has done it, has identified light (but strong) boulders to make it easy for transportation. Since they are strong, they can withstand a lot of weight. It should be preserved as a national monument.%u201D

And incidently its date roughly matches the traditionally accepted date of Ramayana. Of course, the modern day historians as yet do not accept those dates.

There are many many things on this earth/universe which do not have scientific support. That doesnt meant that they are wrong or they did not exist. Try to respect the sentiments of human beings and their beliefs. We strongly felt very bad when a year or two back, danish painting insulting a religious prophet - basically for the reason that the sentiments of human beings were not respected. So, be fare. NASA is not the ultimate authority on this earth. Be ram sethu is a simple deposit of sand, does not matter. As millions and millions of people believe that the bridge existed and they have a faith on that aspect - give respect to their sentiments. In hinduism there is a concept of Yuga and Theyayuga (which is believed to be the period in which Ram lived and went to Ceylon by means of a small bridge to wage a war against Ravana). So, try to respect the sentiments of the co-human beings, whiever religion they belong to.

building this Sethusamudram will involve be destruction of Ramar Sethu which will be detrimental to our faith. The story goes that Ravan, the King of Lanka had abducted Sita to avenge the insult meted out to his sister Shurpnakha, whose proposal for marrying her was turned down by the Lord Ram. Assisted by his loyal devotee Hanuman, the Lord mobilized monkeys and built this bridge. It is claimed that this bridge is a marvel of engineering achievements of the Indian engineers of that time. The assertion is that it shows the acme of technological achievements of this land, and that there are other noteworthy achievements like the advances in aeronautical technologies like aero planes, missiles to name the few.
