just study quran and bible then you get the proper evidence of Allah's messenger came without investigating you should not talk any topic and We respect your religion and we know all human being is one then why we fight each other. It is better for us to fight with the Government/ System or protest with unity and show him majority power. We are also not happy to hear about ram sethu, even we don't know the story but our friends' sentiments.

Sethusamudram project
by oliver valan on Sep 12, 2007 03:01 PM  Permalink

Mr.T.R.Balu minster of shipping and road transport replying to Susma of BJP, That he was very frim in this regard.

So there is no surprise in the affidavit filed by centre in the court!

Some details are below

1. the land/beaches were formed between Ramanathapuram and Pamban because of the long shore drifting currents which moved in an anti-clockwise direction in the north and clockwise direction in the south of Rameswaram and Talaimannar about 3,500 years ago. ... But as the carbon dating of the beaches roughly matches the dates of Ramayana, its link to the epic needs to be explored,

2. Dr. Badrinarayanan, former director of Geological Survey of India and a member of the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) says the Adam's Bridge was not a natural formation."Such a natural formation is impossible. Unless somebody has transported them and dumped them there, those reefs could not have come there. Some boulders were so light that they could float on water.

3. American space agency NASA has said that the structure of sand bars and rocks situated in the Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka, known as Ram Sethu or Adam's Bridge in maps, is a natural phenomenon and not a man-made structure. This was announced on Saturday by N K Raghupathy, CEO, Sethusamudram Corp Ltd, at a press conference when he revealed the contents of an email received in this regard from NASA's Johnson Space Centre. A few days back, the company sent an email to NASA to know whether Ram Sethu

The GOI is correct
by Anurag Shrivastava on Sep 12, 2007 03:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well - we Hindus are far more sensible than that and believe in science more than absurd believes. Our vedas and upanishads do not recommend blindly believe any nonsense dished out by random priests. They also have no mention of Ram.The GOI has taken the correct stand. Just because others crazy - does not mean Hindus should start behaving like that.

However I would advise the government to behave as rationally and sensibly when dealing with people of other faiths as well. I am afraid they would be scared to do that - either lose the votes or fear a death sentence.

GOI should go ahead.

Anurag,

Irrespective of the fact that there is nothing to prove the existence of Lord Ram, if at all Ramayana was mere literature, we also have to take note of the fact that best literary works, whether ancient or modern, always revolved around the people & history of the times. Forget history, can anyone deny the fact that some one by the name King Rama did live; revolving around whom Ramayana was written? There might be very exaggerated illustration of various characters, then that was the way literature was written those times (whether Sanskrit, Greek or Roman). Fact is that King Rama did exist, the war with Ravana was fought; in all probabilities the Ram Sethu was built to cross over to Lanka. It is also a certain possibility that the strait was shallow those times. What every thinking man should consider is that we should not refute the existence of King Rama,(not Lord Ram) around whom the halo of godliness was betowed by the subjects of the time,&in the course of history, he was worshipped as god. Isnt it true of every religion?

Gist: in a secular country, one neednt strictly go by the Logic; common sentiment & religious beliefs, cultural heritage - everything should be given its due share of acknowledgement. Even the affidavit filed, though logically might be correct, it would have been a more correct document had the minister, or committee who prepared it, had given heed to such important issues.

Gods eh...?
by Nightviper on Sep 12, 2007 03:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why are we spending so much time and money on a god which doesn't exist? Just think with your minds not with your hearts...There is no Jesus, no Allah and no Ram...Just look at what happened to the Greeks and their gods...or the Romans or Egyptians and their mighty gods...Religion is just one big superstition which we are blindly following...Religion is truly the opium of the masses...

Night viper, please do what you do best, thats to attack the harmless at night, dont try your tricks at day time. By the way what has religion got to do in this issue. The question was there a structure that connected to srilanka from india or not. If no what is the structure that is called as adam's bridge. If yes forget about the emotional aspect of Lord Ram being involved, why not treat it as a heritage site, when urinals and public bathrooms are safeguarded as heritage sites, why destroy something that is in the high seas.
