Looking at over 2000 virulent response on this board, it is clear Rediff boards are teeming with BJP/VHP fundies. While the BJP/VHP protests(against something they themselves initiated when in power) brought despair to the people of the north, there was hardly a murmur in the south. In fact, most people in the south, especially TN(the fastest developing state in India) support the navigational channel. Long live DMK. Long Live TN - the land of the pure.

I agree that TN is better developed economically than many other states in the North. But the Northerners have pride which people in TN do not have. Else, will they have eulogise Periyar and his rationalism and still go to temples?

The main message of Ramayana was to show 1) How even when God is born as a Human being, he tries to be the best, but gets misled and does some wrong things and 2) After doing the wrong things, he gets punished too.
Ramayana should be seen in that context. Some people think Ram did evil , he is evil man in banishing sita etc etc. Dont forget that sita devi finally pointed out his mistake and left earth and Ram repents till the end and he leads life of a loner. It is to show the importance that men should attach to women and how one should not be misled by some comments by others.
In other words, Ramayana is first epic that says that "Dont forsake your near and dear for sake of some fools and their opinion"
There are lots of subtle messages from Ramayana which fools (athiests) refuse to see. Rama is embodiment of Human mistakes and divinity that gets embedded in human faultiness and fatality. You may not worship him, but dont find fault without reason. learn the message.

i have been a secularist all my life. i have never ever thought about religion outside my home, and have never voted for a party with religion in mind. i never see religion in a person and i keep my religion within me. i'm a devout brahmin, but to me not hurting another human being and being honest with moral values matters most than anything else. in fact that is what is said in vedanta and understanding vedanta led me to believe that all human beings are equal and religion is a path for renunciation. but, the actions of congress is frustrating me and im feeling the want to defent my religion. congress, the dravida parties and other pseudo secular intellectuals, in the name of secularism are going to large lengths to appease minorities and bring back caste system (in the form of reservation) in to the sociey. this is not good and they dont realise the harm they are causing to the society. this is a time when people should be encouraged to be more tolerant and the greatness of hinduism and india lies in its tolerance and at the moment they are testing the extent of tolerance.

It is time you voted with religion in mind. I am not saying BJP is the best.But they are definetely better than congress. Let us all get back BJP as soon as possible. They are the best choice we have. On the other side we have congress and left. Is there even a choice
