Refreshing article after all those stinky political forums. Sobha , thanks for the article .. And u r coming up with some real good articles like Captain Harshan's one which gave me goose bumps .. And also a regular reader of your blogs .. why cant u be a regular in blogs anyway?? I love Mylapore, though iam not a brahmin and not religious , i would love to say the Iyer sorroundings are clean and refreshing with sweet aroma.... And vocal music added, oops ....

Due to economic reasons Iyers in Mylapore turned more into business and become victims of mindless wealth-chasers like any other community.
Now a days it rare to see an environment you have mentioned. Only flats costing crores and poarch bunglows dominate Mylapore and Mandaivelli, Unfortunately. Only Iyers are to be blamed and no one else.
But this one is a good initiative from Sundaram Finance. It will definitely help exploring more talents.
It was interesting to note about morning kacheri in Chennai. However, this practice was started at Cubbon Park in Bangalore several years back and is still continuing. The only difference is in Bangalore, it is not only children but also adults perform in those concerts - Reshma
