Deve Gowda, was dirisively known around the globe as India's 'barefoot' PM, and he gloried in his notoriety, short-lived though it was - he wanted the world to see the true face of India, the bare-footed village simpleton in his dhoti, with his cows and bullock-cart - what could be more 'Indian' than that? Were it not for the IT revolution, to the world, India would still be this totally backward land of peasants. And now this is the same guy who's king-maker in K'taka, though pretending not so convincingly, to be hands-off. Wouldn't be too surprised, being the opportunist that he is, if he does another of his about face and gives Cong the embrace.
This is a very loaded statements and should not be allowed by Rediff:

How can this columnist have her pre-conceived notions about BJP spill out in a supposedly objective article?
Atleast there is lot of competition. Lots of alternatives. Gowda has competitors in Yediyurappa, in Siddaramaiah, and so on.
It is not one family rule like in TN
More important, most politicians are OBCs and power is with OBCs, (like in TN), but at same time they dint get the power by spreading hatred against Hinduism and against Hindi and against some castes.
That makes the state better than TN when it comes to political culture. It is sickening to see my state being ruled by one family and being run to help one business group.
I think, this article is ill-meaned. to give the caste colour to the current political crisis.. There is a minor attempt to save kumarasamy's image.. but, there's one fact.. If at all, kumarasamy has give those statements, he is one of the most cunning and coward and most selfish that indian political class has seen.. where was he, when he signed the agreement with BJP 20 months back.. dont he find any communalism in BJp for these 20 months..

Gowdas and Gounders are same lineage, both OBCs, so where is caste issue ? BTW, secularism in India is a joke played on politicians to justify their antics,so ignore it.
It's a pity that no leader or party is above caste considerations. As long as Hindus are not united as a single entity, the crooked politicians will exploit them to the core.

Deve Gowda is the biggest crook in Indian politics. He is as bad as Subramania Swamy- another selfish opportunist who brings down governments because he cannot become a central minister. There will be justice one day, there is always God's court. By the way it is funny that gowda Jr. just found that BJP is communal. Shameless crooks- and the drama that son betrayed the father- very funny too. They assume that we public are idiots.

Develouda is the most currupt oppurtunistic politician India has ever seen so far. He is worth of 5000 cr today. His grand sons owns hummers and several exotic vehicles in bangalore.
