Look what these NGOs and Politicians can do. Biranchi Das the coach who made and took care of Budhia was arrest for torturing the child.
When with the coach he Budhia was taken good care of. The Coach was a good man and was penalized for doing a good job and trying to make Budhia a great runner.
NGOs and Politicians are very bothered about Budhia had they shown such interest there would be not street urchin in Orrisa.
What can you expect of Budhia's mother she had given up the child long time back.
Now that the child is sperated from a father like coach he is just another street urchin

while what yu say is right. i was scared what the coach was ding with the boy. instead of letting develop his skills, he was millking the situation. making him run long distances at that age is inhuman, just because he can doesnt mean he should be tested. invest in the future, not the immidiate. he probably is olympic material. but he needs honing.
look at what the government does! it cant take care of a single prospective athlete. its pathetic!

Ashok, I would suggest you to please get the correct information first. Do you know at what age people in those countries that excelled in sport enroll children? Running is natural but there are strenuous sports like Gymnastics for which stamina build up is done by long distance running. And how many of the older players/ sportsmen/women who have started at 3 years of age have developed problems due to their early entry? Does any one have seen any existing anomaly or indicative future one, due to his long distance running?
The coach have treated the boy as a normal child should have been. Those who have physically seen the boy during training can only say as to whether there was anything wrong.
Is it true that Budhia's health had some major problems after his long distance running? It was also learnt that his running was stopped due to these problems. But his so far attending school suggests that the problems may not be so severe, if at all there are any. If it is not true, why can't he continue his running which he likes more than anything else? He is an exceptional child. So why can't be exceptions made in his case if he wants to run?

on the tv budhia clearly seemed out of sorts at the end of the race, it should not be the case if he were fit. he can run, doesnt mean he will become Olympic material automatically. probably budhia needs to be trained everyday , just like the top athletes do. the sad thing is that people all over want a child to run... why ? whats the fun in a child running if he's not fit ? there's a limitation to children running in the heat, let that be respected. right now he needs support, and the state government is doing nothing.

Even you and me would feel that after the run. There were extentive tests conducted by experts at the Government hospital and every parametre was stated to be normal.
By making our comments we are making (Including the NGOs Ministers and ordinary people) is making things difficult for Budhia. Let the experts say.

He can;t run because some NGOs aired a documentary in foreign TV about morality of running and achieving success in childhood instead of being indoctrinated in a stalinist neo-colonial school system. Once ideologues get a handle on Budhia's life, he would be allowed to run.
how come the local politicians can't arrange transport for the boy after all thepublicity the state has received? Or why can't the mother find a school that is nearer? Where are all those who wished him well when they could stand in his reflected glory?

Ashok, there are several schools nearby. But no one can ensure that the mother will send his ward to school. She has to earn her bread, and would in a year or two send Budhia to earn his. She might get some money due to the popularity of the kid. And that would hardly last for 6 months. No more funding. It should not surprise you if you see Budhia Pulling a Ricshaw after another 5 years.
This was bound to happen. The high profile involvement of the Minister and the other so called well wishers, are to be blamed. But this aftermath is going to do no harm to them. These are shameless people those who had opposed Das. They have done no good in their lifetime and can not do a thing. But these honourable people are the people whose wishes would be honoured.
Where are the state govt. and govt of India sleeping? they are busy saving their respective governments. It is a shame on them that talented children like Budhia are dropping out. Central and State governments Lage raho in ammasing wealth by bleeding common Indian

They didn't sleep. 4 days jail was served to the person who got Budhia to where he is. If you want something else, then wish a documentary in foreign TV or Pranoy Roy's NDTV or contact power brokers.

budhia needs to be nurtured, not exploited. from the looks of it, budhia was exploited by the coach. no one makes a kid run in the heat, and the kid ends running exhausted, bobbing his head one side to another, extremely bad position. and you call the coach a saviour ?
