We all know that REDIFF is in the business to make money, yet we applaud their initiaitve in atleast bringing to the fore, this news. There are similar sites, whom I do not wish to name, who have not even mentioned this child, who was once the frontpage of every leading daily! Kudos REDIFF, keep up the good work!

Politicians, NGOs, Govts, Media and many other so called well-wishers did shed crocodile tears at Budhia's plight & torture. Mr.Biranchi Das the villain was sent to jail. All their pics on tv & newspapers and highly intellectual statements on media on child abuse came. Now lets all wash our hands off. We wont be surprised when Budhia starts washing dirty dihes in a road-side chai shop in near future. Shabaaash Orissa !!
MAY I REQUEST THE ORISSA CM TO INTERVENE AND PROVIDE THIS PRODIGY THE MUCH NEEDED EDUCATION AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT, ORISSA HAS GUD SPORTS HOSTELS,DILIP TIRKEY, PRABODH TIRKEY, LAZARUS BARLA ALL GUD HOCKEY STARS ARE FROM SUNDERGARH WHEN BUDHIA IS LANGUISHING INA BUBHANEA=SHWAR SLUM WHY NOT HELP HIM? Dear Mr. Amit Sharma, If you would have been in the child's shoes, would you still have asked the same warped question as to why do you think the government should come and support for everything? The simple answer is that the Government should come and support everything because we elect the government for exactly the same purpose. For ruling the country, for social welfare, for upliftment of the under privileged, that's why we elect governments. But you on the other hand seem like an individual who has been feeding himself on the leftovers of his parents or either someone who has been given a chance to get educated. Say this to the countless people in India, who even today, are deprived of a decent education and an opportunity to prove one's mettle in life. You must have heard of the term "SELF MADE", believe me, there is nothing farther from the truth! Every self made man has had a mentor, who has been his source opening to a box full of candies. Next time, please as a human, understand or atleast empathise with the plight of others rather than making bland statements such as SELF HELP IS THE BEST HELP!
The constructive effort of the coach is overshaddowed by the destructive power of the Indian Politics. NGO must be in bewilderment.
The Indian Politics is more destructive. See the performance of BCCI players. When the Politician took over it team India Went down to such a low level of not even qualifying for 2nd round of the World Cup.
Similarly , in Bhudia's case, it is shame that govenment does not gaurentee a better school to him near by his house.
Will at least the near by NGO's again take care of the situation ans see that the young Star is going to school again . NGO's please do not take any pride to help the child in getting him bacck to school.
Constrctive Effort is like very Difficult. Where as Destructive power is easily availabe.
Let Both Politicans and NGO's understand this and work towords the growth of the Yound Start in India.
Look what these NGOs and Politicians can do. Biranchi Das the coach who made and took care of Budhia was arrest for torturing the child.
When with the coach he Budhia was taken good care of. The Coach was a good man and was penalized for doing a good job and trying to make Budhia a great runner.
NGOs and Politicians are very bothered about Budhia had they shown such interest there would be not street urchin in Orrisa.
What can you expect of Budhia's mother she had given up the child long time back.
Now that the child is sperated from a father like coach he is just another street urchin

while what yu say is right. i was scared what the coach was ding with the boy. instead of letting develop his skills, he was millking the situation. making him run long distances at that age is inhuman, just because he can doesnt mean he should be tested. invest in the future, not the immidiate. he probably is olympic material. but he needs honing.
look at what the government does! it cant take care of a single prospective athlete. its pathetic!

Ashok, I would suggest you to please get the correct information first. Do you know at what age people in those countries that excelled in sport enroll children? Running is natural but there are strenuous sports like Gymnastics for which stamina build up is done by long distance running. And how many of the older players/ sportsmen/women who have started at 3 years of age have developed problems due to their early entry? Does any one have seen any existing anomaly or indicative future one, due to his long distance running?
The coach have treated the boy as a normal child should have been. Those who have physically seen the boy during training can only say as to whether there was anything wrong.
