by pranav kumar on Sep 07, 2007 05:50 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Iranian Nadirshah massacred Indians in delhi in 1739 and enslaved women and children to sell them in central asian markets but iranians glorify this event and never apologised.they have no sanctity for signed documents;increase gas prices after agreement and arm twist india on pakistan factor.

Lets be open and lets use common sense!
by Onlooker on Sep 07, 2007 05:32 AM  Permalink

Would you knowingly and willingly like to support someone who in turn supports your enemy working against your interests? I won't. Cause he is not just someone you don't like but he is your enemy.

The enemy has nuke in his hands. Nuke in the hands of one mad fellow is a dangerous situation. You have to be a developed nation and a democratic nation to handle nukes. We are developing, so to some extent its ok for the US. But Iran is not democratic.

I think US do not like to see what looks to be a win-win situation today to be turned into a lose-win situation for them tomorrow. They are taking every steps to safeguard their interests.

We don't have to make foolish decision trusting US or some one. We need not and SHOULD NOT compromise our sovereignity and our security. Those are legitimate concerns. But I think we are not open enough and our folks are trying to fool US and in turn would get fooled finally. Just my guess.

India has its own self intersts!!
by Anil Kumar on Sep 07, 2007 05:30 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I travel to Iran very often, I found that Iranians are peaceful and majority of them are moderates. But most of them don%u2019t understand that major democratic powers, U.S.A and EU will not accept Iran%u2019s hardline Islamic government and nuclear technology together. According to them this is potentially a deadly combination and threat to the whole region and Israel.

Iranians can%u2019t have a government saying they want to demolish some countries from the world map and aspire for the N-Bombs. Unless and until Iranian people speak up in this regard, their future looks uncertain. Global oil prices and War in Iraq is keeping USA and others thinking, one gets the feeling military confrontation is very much on the cards.

Its iranian problem and and India can't do much.India have to look after its self intersts.

Iran has long been a very friendly country of india. It has supported India or opined against pakistan moves so many times in Organisation of Islamic Countries. They are a very reliable partner for our enegy needs and can contribute significantly for our energy needs.( Unlike the nuclear power which at the maximum may come to 10% of our needs, when 123 agreement is fully operational)Also Iran is strategically important for us to have a grip among the scores of Muslim nations.

Myth
by Truth BeTold on Sep 07, 2007 05:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Somehow this myth that Indians in India have that India has become a developed country and doesn't need anyone's (especially US) help needs to be squashed. We are probably a good 75 years behind US or any other western country on all imaginable scales. World diplomacy is not about standing alone but to work with like minded partners who have shared interests. What shared interests or values do we have with Iran? Its an extremist country with ambition to build a nuclear bomb. That will make it one more islamic country with the N bomb in our neighborhood. That aint in India's interest at all.

thanks for letting the truth be known to the ignorant among us...well if we really think we dont need US and other countries , just watch out for the next US elections, let one democrat come into power, Indian govt. will start having cold feet...when you think we are developed dont look at yourself working on your computer but the millions you encounter on the streets everyday who dont even get enough food to feed themselves...its actually good that truth be told, without any lies.

These senators are worried about India's relationship with Iraq because tey don't want nuclear technology to fall in Iran's hands

USA has every right to defend its interests when it comes to rogue states like Iran.
