Communism never rules. Authoritarianism never succeeds. Tibet will get its independence one day. The muslims in the west of China will revolt when there is a slightest weakness in the iron rule of the communist party and its military in China.
Democracy is the only system that works, though it looks inefficient at times, because it is based on trade-offs between the different groups in the community and the tolerance for each other. The sooner the chinese understand this and allow freedom and dissent in their society, the better they have a chance of keeping their country together. Otherwise, it will just break up like Russia.
Its amazing the chinese will do anything for money. Money can only go so far and it is only a facade. The real strength of any society is the tolerance that exists in its communities for each other.
All other systems like communism, dictatorship, and religious theocracies like the islamic countries survive based on force and denial of freedom. They can only be temporary. They will crumble one day. Until then, their citizens live a life of slavery (though materially advanced in some cases).

China's situatiion is very different from USSR. China has as one country (including Tibet) for hundreds of years but USSR only lasted less than 80 years. As history shown, China will split to many parts if she goes to so called democratic. Not only Taiwan, Tibet but any individual provence can become single entity (may be a country). It is not because Chinese Govt has choosed this system but Chinese did. Chinese have suferred long histotry of being humiliated. Therefore they are very sensitive to their sovereignty. There is no way that any Chinese Govt can let Taiwan to go or Tibet to go or any part of Chinese territory to go in respective of democratic or authoritarian Govt. It is 1.3 Billion Chinese not Chinese Govt to decide the territory belonging. Chinese will fight to the last drip of blood to keep their torritoty untouched, be it Taiwan, Tibet or any part of Chinese territory clamed by China.

Tibet was never a part of China and Taiwan declared independence long ago. Chinese govt. needs to respect diversity and dissent.
The tendency to keep claiming some land based on vague historical pretexts is typically communist mentality and needs to change.
As for humilation , well every country has suffered in wars so Chinese govt' should stop brainwashing it's people on the "we have been humilated" doctrine .
there is no doubt that China is far ahead of India in almost all areas of development and economy. but their methods to achieve the same gives rise to some doubts about the bubble bursting one day and ending cropper Soviet style.industry and labour seem to be governed more by the age old chinese feudal laws rather than by modern management practices to manufacture cheap chinese export goods sans quality . they also seem to have invented very ingenious way of reducing population through regular mining accidents.we wish them all the best.
From all the comments below, commentators can be divided into two groups. One group is well informed, educated and open minded who can see the benefit from the cooperation between India and China. People in another group are ill informed and their mind is still in 1970 or 80's (cold war mantality). World has changed, China has changed but the people in the second group have not changed for good. They only see things around them. Their mind were poisoned by hatred towards China. They only remember 1962 and PK issue is only a big deal. They do not know what is the stradegy and they do not really know and care what is good for India but brain washed by biased journalists. They are more emotional than realistic. They are more closed than open minded. They are more ignorant than well informed. You can learn from the history but never be dragged by it.
We must beware of other US parellel N-Laws over there India may come under the net of any of these There are a number of other parellel laws. So lawmakers shuld take care of those These chinese agent can't see india in progress. If anybody says that India is shining then they will become angry. They want India should give up Arunachal pradesh to China. And China is close friend of Pakistani. So these leaders are indirect Pakistani supporter. They must be hanged for the alligation like attack on parliament. All of them are Desh drohi, They are nexalites. (CPI- Chinese party against India) or Chinese people of India (Manoos)
